As far as i know, m2tw does not natively run on a mac (and you're unlikely to have the graphics power to run it anyway)

Hello DJoe, and welcome to the Org!

M2TW does not run natively on the Mac, but it is possible with the new Intel Macs to use a program called Boot Camp to create a Windows partition. You will need a full copy of WinXP SP2 for that partition.

I am running M2TW on a first generation MacBook Pro laptop which only has an Radeon 128MB graphics card and a 1.83 Core Duo, and the game runs very nicely. One of the newer iMacs or MacBooks will be even better, I suspect.

Gorm also runs M2TW on his iMac.

There is another option for running Windows on the Mac, called Parallels. This is a virtual machine which removes the need to reboot into Windows from OSX every time you want to play games. However, it does not support 3D at present and is therefore not too good for games.

Banquo's Ghost, while you're certainly right about that, i'd debate whether running xp via bootcamp is really playing on a mac ;)

I don't want this to degenerate into an OSX/Windows debate, but the Apple Mac is a piece of hardware, just like a Dell or HP computer. The operating system one uses for running applications is a different thing altogether.

The OP wanted to know if he could run M2TW on a Mac. He can. He cannot however run it under OSX.

My fault with interpretation then - i assumed that playing on a mac = playing on osx

Don't worry. It's perfectly possible to intepret DJoe's post in that way, but since he was talking about buying a new Mac, I thought it might be that he'd heard about playing PC games under Windows on it.

With the old PowerPC chip one had no choice. Now Mac owners who have the new Intel powered Macs can install Windows.

Couple of mates have those. So ironic after getting them they only ever use the XP partition, not OSX.
