Someone please help me create LAN game...

When I go into the LAN lobby I can see the other computers name but we can't join each others game! Help please?

Firstly, can you ping the other computer on your network?

Secondly, have you set up your configuration file correctly? I know that to get hamachi (a virtual lan) working correctly you have to set the value 'use_ip' to your network ip address - try that and see if you can now connect to the other computer.

and you must install the same patch, or you can see each other, but can't see each other's games...

wait now I installed the patch but when I try to join the game (which I can now see) I get the message: "Failed to Join. No Response from host."

Can you explain in a bit more detail how to do this?

Try opening the medieval2.preferences.config file in the root m2tw directory, scrolling down to where it says 'use_ip =' and try entering your local network ip (usually in the range of 192.168.xxx).

I'm not 100% sure this will work but i know it has to be done to get hamachi working, so i presume it's the same for a physical lan connection.

ok a couple of things

1)as said you both need to have the patch installed

2) and please I am not making any allegations but you also both need to have legitimate copys of the game and DVD - ie not 1 legit and 1 image or anything like that


if either then you will not be able to see the other game in the lobby

3) finally check you windows firewall and antivirus and make sure they are allowed as exceptions or turn them off completely
