That's a good point. What are the planning laws like in Texas? Was permission given by the local authority for such a development - in which case this gentleman should have had the opportunity to present his objections there - or is such permission not needed - in which case I suppose anyone can change the land use as they see fit.

As for the fellow's reaction, it seems to reflect a poor light on the great state of Texas. It's a small and petty-minded protest against people he obviously knows little about. Texans are usually bigger and more neighbourly than that, in my experience. You'd think decent, God-fearing folk who want to make a better life for their community would be most welcome.
