Thought I'd try playing about with Gmax got it installed and Verc's script in place but can't work out how to import anything. I get as far as Run Script and select the script but nothing comes up after that, and I don't seem to have the Utilities button or R: TW Import Export selection it mentions.

As you've obviously got that bit working, please....

The only bad thing about gmax is you cannot render, and you cannot export as cas files. Other than that, the controls seem pretty uniform. Is the script in the right place? I followed the guide for importing a model into 3ds max, and it worked. I don't really know how to help.

    1. Click the hammer at the top right of screen.
    2. Click maxscript.
    3. Click run script.
    4. Double right click on the script.
    5. Underneath the run script button, there should be a drop down menu labelled utilities.
    6. Lower that and click on the RTW Importer/exporter.
    7. minimize maxscript, and there should be 3 more lines entitles RTW import/export, RTW import, RTW export.
    8. Open the RTW import, then set the proper textures path, and import cas.

I havent been able to make the skin appear on the actual model in it, but you can look at the uv mapping and all.

    Good luck.

ps. Does anyone know if milkshape 3d will work for RTW?

Thanks Meghas Alexandros, I was launching script through wrong bit of menu (top bar), hadn't found hammer thingy - that all makes sense now. Shame about the rendering that was bit I wanted to experiment with. I saw a few things on web that said they enabled renders in Gmax, but if you can't get textures to load there's probably not much point.

I obviously have no idea about milkshape for RTW, but not sure if I saw it mentioned as possibility re: M2TW if that ever gets exporter sorted????

The reason I was inquiring about Milkshape is because it can handle 3ds max file formats, so I thought maybe the cas importer/exporter could work in that. I guess I would have to test it myself.
