Where is the cfg. file?

Sorry im quite new to modding and I dont understand most of all of your terms, but I would like to ask where this cfg. (configuration) file might be? the reason I ask this is because every time I go into a battle with the unit culverin it stops and a message comes up and says the game has experienced an unspecified error. I have heard that this cfg. file will allow me to view this error if put in something, and how it will also help with future modding which i do often (mainly bulidings and units attack power). however i cannot find this file, HELP PLEASE!!!
