I am afraid there is little you can do about the loading times. The second link posted by Tellos Athenaios gives a few hints on how to improve your computers performance, but don't expect a miracle. EB's data files are simply huge, so it takes a long time to load them.

If you disable the character and town name display with Ctrl-T and Ctrl-N I've noticed the game works faster on the campaign map, even greater difference on EB's huge map than on vanilla. It may accelerate the end turn processing time, but I have no clue about the load times.
Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

Thank you so much, you're a genius Bovi. I didnt even know that you could disable the town and agent/army names like that, but now that I hae done, when I end my turn, its much faster for the AI to take its turn(s). Even though it has no effect on the battle loading times or anything like that, its still a huge plus. Much apreciated.![]()
