Did people use clay bullets? I cant imagine them being particularly effective. Surely rocks are easier to get hold of (you can just pick them off the ground, and theres no need to cook them) and not as likely to shatter on impact with any kind of armour, dissipating the force that way rather than by damaging the armour.
What were the advantages of using clay?
