M2TW Very Hard difficulty battles

I have come to ask the advice of the EB community, because there are so many contradictory opinions on the total war forums and I want a solid answer.

So, what does change when battles in M2TW are VH difficulty? The Devs said that it just makes battles more realistic, and doesn't give the enemy stat bonuses except moral. Is this true? Do they get actually get stat bonuses?

Oh and another question:

What is the best M2TW mod to use that overhauls M2TW making it altogether more fun and fixed? Rise of Kings? Winning Combo? Age of War?

I think i remember reading that on VH battles the player's armies are more greatly affected by fatige and morale. Think maybe the AI (for the comp.) is better as well(?).

Or perhaps that was what was intended for the patched version... can't recall.

I don't know about the dificulty but tthe mod I like to play the most with MTW2 is wincombomod with the export_descr_unit.txt changed by me (making knights useful but pricey (vanilla mailed knights 250 ukeep 10 atk and 14def my modification 450 upkeep 10atk and 19def), nerfing some units like jinetes and crossbows). This mod as well as some others are essential because they correct a lot of errors. Also, the Wincombomod, has a thing called heraldry in wich titles from MTW1 are back.
I'm trying right now Road to jerusalem mod tough I believe buildings there are too expensive.

where do you find these mods? I had high hopes for Medi 2 but vanilla is just so lame! Plus I've been spoiled by EB's excellent and huge map, so I'm feeling a bit claustrophobic.
