Default Units cause blue screen (sometimes) & xp question

There's a bug - about the only unconquered one (if you exclude the loyalist revolt :) ) - I have in the Fourth Age build which has been a long-standing and very annoying one.

It occurs when (on huge and high settings at least) there are more than 4 Chieftain's Wains units (the Easterling bodyguard unit, a 4-horse (twin horse) chariot with 4 crew)) present in battlemap mode.

The screen slows down, goes blue and then freezes or something along that nature. I can see in the display that the engine has taken the number of soldiers per Wain unit down very often and so my belief is that it is struggling with too much of something - but I cannot work out what.

I have loaded up a full army to oppose them at their threshold and no problem, so it's not as if the game is too texture or poly heavy.

For anyone who has Corsair Invasion, any help would be appreciated. Or if you know of this happening in your or other mods then do let me know. The unit in edu is "rhun bodyguard" and it would need to be custom-battle enabled to test.

For now, I am going to have to make a new bodyguard unit and place these Wains as restricted recruitable generals to decrease the liklehood of more then 4 being present in any battle in battlemap mode.

As an aside, has anyone got a workaroud for the problem of units (esp. bodyguard units) gaining 9 XP etc. quite rapidly and becoming nigh on invincible? It's not as if you can start bodyguard units on low stats in the first place and due to their replenishing nature they are not likely to be destroyed like most units before ever having a hope of 9xp/armour/weapon...
