    Default No Aztecs!? [Image]

Playing as the Turks, it's about year 1435ish, 1.0 timescale. I beat the campaign a while ago, I control 52 or 3 regions, but was waiting around to go discover the New World. I finally reached it...only to find it completely abandoned.

The New World consists of a bunch of empty settlements that are all at the most basic level of development, have under 1000 population, and have no buildings in them at all, aside from the castle and wall. This was similiar to the situation at the beginning of my campaign - when I first started out, all the rebel settlements were at the most basic level, had no buildings, and no garrisons - just completely empty ghost towns.

Now, I should also add that in my campaign, the Mongols and Timurids ALSO never showed up. It's as if all the event-enabled factions just never appeared. I thought the reason the Aztecs weren't around was because I had already won, but given the fact that neither of the two other triggered factions emerged, I suspect something is horribly wrong.

    So, I ask, what happened?

    Anyone in a similiar situation?

That's wierd... the Aztecs are generated at the beginning of the game, so I'd say your strat file is messed up.

Mongols and Timurids are dead_until_resurrected, but their entries do appear in the strat file as well. Check and see if they appear there.

I'm using your same timescale and I can still see the Aztecs when I toggle_fow. Just to eliminate that as a possibility.

Yup, they're both at dead_until_resurrected. I never changed anything in the strat file at all except for the timescale, so how could that be the problem?

edit: actually, the one other thing I changed was I moved all the factions under the 'playable' heading at the beginning of the file.

All the factions? Including the Mongols, Timurids, Aztecs and REBELS?

That might be the problem right there. Aztecs are normally frozen until you encounter them, while the other two are dead until resurrected. Making them playable messes up their settings big time. Rebels should not be messed with at all.

Since you can't change the settings in an ongoing campaign, why not just take it that the plague killed off all the natives and take it from there?

Turks in America... have to try that one day.

Did you finish before the mongols should have shown up? I dont know if you finish, that events still happen....

But making them playable without a mod is a bad idea.

Even so playing with a normal faction with the mod sucks. Cause they ruin Russia, Turks, Egypt, Hungary, Poland and Byz. Just by being there.

Interesting, I suppose that was it then, sigh.

Ha, been playing this campaign since the game was released so I could get to the New World, kind of disappointing to see it end this way two months later.

Winning early shouldn't affect the events; the fact that your rebels didn't even spawn correctly at the start of the game suggests that there is a problem with your descr_strat file. The Mongols, Timurids, Aztecs, Papal States and Rebels should never be made playable.

I ALWAYS play with the Papal States, it is fun! I have a mod for it as well.

You probably needed a more complex mod than just moving it over to the playables list in order to get it to work properly.

I also notice in your pics that the minimap doesn't show the new world...?

Okay, you're all right. I fixed it by moving the Mongols, Timurids, Aztecs, and Slave back into the 'unplayable' heading. I just started a new campaign, and used toggle_fow to go spy on the Aztecs, who are there. The rebels also spawned correctly in their hometowns.

I left the Papal States as playable. Still looks fine.

As for why the minimap didn't extend to include the new world, I don't know either. I was wondering that myself. After the world_is_round event happened and I noticed the minimap wasn't extending, I took that as the first sign something was terribly wrong. When I got into South America and right-clicked on the newly discovered land only to see it was under rebel control, that was the second sign something went horribly wrong. Then, I toggle_fow'd to see that all of the new world was empty...which I pretty much took as confirmation that something went incomprehensibly wrong. I still can't figure out why editing which factions are playable and unplayable would have any effect whatsoever on the minimap, so all I can do is shrug.

Looks fixed now, though. Okay...so...I'll never do that, ever again. Thanks for the suggestions!

If you toggle the aztecs playable, you get a message at the start of your campaign that their faction has been destroyed. If you try to play as them you get the "campaign goals failed" message and game over.

There is an interesting spin-off here from what you have found making the Mongols, Timurids, and Aztecs playable. Some people have been asking how to turn off the Mongols, etc. and you seem to have inadvertently found out how to do so.

That happened to me and I know the Prob was I tryed to change descr strat to make the Aztecs Playable. So maybe changing Anything in them files unless you do it right causes things lke that to Happen

Have you edited the descr.strat file?
