I love shogun so much in the last year I've bought lots of games, but the only one I've completed many times is shogun. I think about it all day(My girlfriend hates it) It is to be quite honest the best money I've spent on a computer game other than perhaps Civilisation and perhaps some of the XCOM series. What I need to know is are there anything on the market current or future that is comparable. The things I love about shogun are the following:
RISK/CIV style strategy: It somewhere between these two giants in stategy, the free-form gameplay is just great. I feel this one area that can definitely be improved upon.
Amazing RTS Battles: I feel that shogun has far superior RTS battles than anything else on the market currently. It blows everything else out of the water. I think the only thing that could improve this is perhaps larger battle fields with more troops. And perhaps the ability to send troops to specific areas inside a map, Perhaps raids could be acheived by small forces on say agricultural/industrial holdings, or perhaps some kind of suppy line model in attacks that could be vulnerable to enemies?
UFO/roleplaying style character advancement: I like the idea that your generals and troops can advance this is a brilliant feature. Perhaps there could be a greater ability to for example rearming and rearmouring your troops with better weapons/armour.
