Media Coder is a cool unintrusive free program that plays most video types (but i'm sure there are many others out there that do the same thing).

Oh and DXL... thats a really cool movie. As an amateur editor myself (though i haven't made any movies in ages) i take my hat off to you. Can't wait to see more of your work .
