Thread: Recommended tweaks/mods to vanilla MTW2?
Redigo 10:31 01-08-2007
Been playing MTW2 obsessively over the past few days, and as an EB fan I'm wondering what sort of tweaks people are running with MTW2. Things like the AI "fix" and 1-year-per-turn mod I saw hosted elsewhere; just downloaded a "litemod", though I'm not sure if it's any good.

Anyhoo -- input?

some minor stuff is easy to 'mod' yourself - like the years: turns ratio, for example, although i'm not sure when changing bits of the .txt files becomes modding.

I also downloaded the Big Map mod, which gives a much larger map with more cities - i have discovered Southampton, Dumfries, Aberdeen, Donegal, Wexford, Carshel and Narbonne so far. Other things about it are that princesses come of age at 14, the year is displayed where the turns are, and a few other small changes. YOu can find a link in the 'post pics of your empire' thread or just serch for it.

Ja, got vanilla too atm but coming to the end of my first campaign, so any recommended mods for my next camp? (interested in a 2h fix for example)

No need to recommended your own stuff warluster

To be honest, i run unmodded, but you can't go wrong with ai and bug fixing mods

I use Shaba Wangy plus MediFix. Maybe will try Tower fix soon.

i use a slightly tweaked Ultimate combo mod myself - merges all the best mods and fixes

I recommend Medifix to deal with some of the more egregious bugs and annoyances, while still having a play experience very similar to "vanilla".

Thanks for the input. Quite a few sound worth trying. Any opinions on Candelarius's "Lite Mod"?

Edit: Also, would any of these (or combination thereof) kill an existing campaign? I imagine the big map mod would do so.

Screw it, I went with a veteran name and installed Darthmod 1.2 for starters. I'd like to incorporate the one-year-per-turn mod that Candelarius did (changed build times, growth rates, aging, etc.) but don't know if it's possible. Will have to check on that one.

Lusted's Lands to Conquor mod over at TWC looks pretty sweet - havent test driven it yet but it tweaks the things I wanted tweaked and looks like the AI makes a reasonable fist of playing the game with the mod, it also incorporates some parts of Darths, Ultimate AI, and Diplomacy mods.

value

As that is what it is in vB code, but it doesn't work for some reason.

EDIT: Nevermind, the code is different here than at TWc which is a bit wierd.
