    Bribing El Cid
(have to upload it, nowhere will take it.)

Ok no site will upload it, but the Spanish in my current game bribed El Cid. The AI spanish bribed him, where no one else could.

When he's outside... its easier to bribe i guess... and VH you need to pay thousands for a small rebel army ten-thousands for a large and hundred thousands for a large army in a city with a general... you'll only bribe him when you give yurself alot of starting money

Playing Spain, I recall getting family members named El Cid De Bla-Bla, where Bla-Bla is a Spanish sounding town name. So, is that general the incorruptible town defender of legend, or just some dopey member of the Spanish royal line?

The starting El Cid is a 6 star general, I believe. That's a different one. I, too, got several family members named "El Cid de xxxxxx", so I think that's just luck.

My general in my little mini-AAR titled Lopo the Merciless is named after The Duke.

Playing as Portugal, my most wise "Council of Nobles" told me to assassinate El Cid in the early stages of the game. That was a silly request but I did it anyway.
This was the El Cid that was a rebel general in southeast Iberian peninsula. Took about 4 assassins and alot of luck to do the job.

I cheated to make a perfect diplomat and bribed him for 67,000 florins just to see if I could. Wasn't worth it though, not a great general.

he was an old man by the year when the game starts. but i always wondered why his wife tied him dead to his horse to cause his army to get disheartened. i mean why didnt she want his army to win. maybe there was some kind of conspiracy i havnt caught in the legend but it does go down as one of the greatest victories won by a dead general. according to what i read about him i have a feeling alexander the great would have been wetting his toga if he knew he had to fight the guy.

She was doing the opposite, actually. He was supposed to appear to still be alive, to inspire the defenders and dishearten the attackers. I think it was actually his last wish. They won that battle, too.
