    Default EB- How you discovered it-

    Now evryone, I have a little story to share with ya's about EB, not an AAr, but how I discovered the heaven of it, uh...... ......................
    Anyway, heres my story on the how I discovered, I reckon we should have an thread on bout how you discovered EB.I have played many games (and mods) over my lifetime and am stunned by this.

    My story of discovery of EB
    Well first of I did nti want to try EB, for some reason I just didnt want to try anymore mods after Naploeonic Total War( Had heaps of trouble installing it) and gave up on RTW mods. Months went by, I heard more about EB. Then after a while I got boerd with NTw and looked for something else, a bigger map, new factions and an Campaign. I was going over the Guild when a saw a pic of Eb. One of the Campaign map. I was half way towards the download button when I remembered NTw, so i ddint try it. M2Tw came out, I played that. Then recently I got into a PBM, I needed RTW, so i got out my copy of RTW and installed it and started playing, I still am. Anyway, for christmas someone gave me a years subscirption to PCPwerPlay (Aussie version) and I just got my new edition in the post. Well I was looking at what was on the disc. EB was on it! EB made it onto PC pwerplay!! I was thrilled, but I had to go out and play a bit of Cricket (You know Australia, Cricket and then something to eat and drinK) I came back inside and slept all day and night, got up and installed EB from the Cd. While it was installing I glanced over the EB forums, straight away I started wondering why I never downloaded it. I have always wanted a bigger map and have tried everything. It downloaded, I started playing, and was in an trance. Amazing,beautiful,great,extra0ordaniry. I showed anyone who'd look. I was amazed you peoples put such time and effort into a mod, for which you dont get paid. A map to India, down to Saudi Arabia. tears of joy were down my face, they still are. I would send you guys cash if I had any. Thankyou. Yhats all I say. So how'd everyone else come across EB?

    My road began somewhere around september of 2006 when I saw the movie Gettysburg. After that I started looking for a game about the American civil war and the best I came up with was Civilization III ( )... But I played it for quite a while, even upgraded it to Conquests. Then I played the Mesopotamia conquest and saw these ancient civilizations that I had never heard of before (Hittites, Medes, Sumerians), so I became obsessed with them. I read everything about them I could find. After a while I watched the movie Alexander, and the world opened up a little more.

    After I got bored with Civ3 and it's Rise of Rome conquest, my brother (who had tried to make me play the TW-series ever since Shogun) introduced me to RTR. It was perfect, since it had all the Alexander's hetairoi and all that. I played that for almost half a year. Then I tried the Platinium Edition, and with it came some random bugs and problems, and besides I was pretty tired with the game. So I set RTW aside for a while. A few months passed by and I was itching to play something related to the ancient times, so I tried Troy - Total War. It was good, it had Hittites and all, but it's emphasis was on mythology and not on realism. My brother had also hyped EB for god knows how long, but had gave up on me months ago. So while biting my tongue and holding my nose I tried EB... and it just clicked.

    I found some info about EB on RTR forums and when those went down I tried to find some replacement. I've came across EB, tried it and was shocked by it's complexity, depth and beauty. After that I couldn't play any other mods for RTW.
    So, now it is only EB for me and even RTR looks very shallow in comparisson. Also I didn't buy MTW2, and the only reason I will ever buy it would be EB2.
    Thanks to EB team, that is very professional work.

    I found out before RTW was released when they were trying to help CA with the barbarian units and was wondering if they were going to make a mod of it.

    EB was one of those things I randomly discovered after I got bored with vanilla R:TW.

    The first thing that I discovered was that R:TW could allow you to play as all factions rather than just the eight that I could play as after my long Scipii campaign. I played half a short campaign as Armenia and then gave up out of boredom.

    Next I discovered the Org and joined one month later. Then, after finding that I could post nowhere but the Entrance Hall, left to go travelling with other games. I went back to the Settlers HoK, Settlers Hok Expansion Disk, AoE III and AoM The Titans. Soon enough I got bored again and decided to go back to Rome. I got bored again after playing three turns as the Julii.

    Next I discovered that R:TW could be modded. At the same time I discovered TW Centre and EB, although at this stage I didn't know how to play EB with R:TW Gold so I didn't download or play it. The first mod I tried was Lusted's TE. This brought me back to the R:TW engine. I played a Carthaginian campaign successfully and met the victory conditions. After another few turns as the Epriots I gave up, partially because, although the skins were redone and it was very exceptional work, the units were the same, the traits were similar, the building system was the same and the play experience was only slightly better than vanilla. I needed a complete change from vanilla. It was time to go looking for something that was a true complete conversion.

    Next I tried the highly aclaimed R:TR PE. I played a quarter of a campaign as the Romans and I must say that I found it most boring. I enjoyed it for a while and then got completely tired of it. Although it had beautiful skins and units it too was too much like vanilla for my liking so I left it and went in search of another mod.

    At this point I re discovered EB and downloaded it following Bonny's guide on how to install EB with R:TW Gold. I played for three months completing a Carthaginian campaign and a Makedonian campaign till 0.8 was released. I am now enjoying myself playing a Selucid campaign. I cannot thank EB enough for providing me with an amazing gameplay experience that I will enjoy for years into the future.

    First heard of it through the RTR forums. I had played heaps of RTR and after a while I felt like giving something else a try. I was afraid to though as I didn't know if other mods could stand up to RTR. I was glad to realise that EB does that however :)

    Havent played it before 0.8 though, primarily Ive been waiting for RTR 7.0 and AE 3.0. It shall be interesting to compare when they get out. As for now EB wins for me, but stability has been better with RTR AE, and to me thats not unimportant. Also AE has some very cool italian allies units. Actually I wonder why the Italian Allies arent more present in this mod with its high historical accuracy. They played an essential role in roman warfare until marian reforms.

    Wait for 0.81 then. It's mainly about bug and CTD solving.

    Ancient Empires has a special focus on Rome, i think thats why they´ve got so many additional units. EB tries (and succeeds imo) to treat each culture equally
    and there´s the cap on how many unit models one can add (255 i think).

    I've always prefered to play as a "barbarian" faction, and when I heard the name "Europa Barbarorum" on the .com, I was naturally drawn to it. Now EB has me in a stranglehold and won't let go. And I don't want it to.

    Like Aymar said, they're not done. But perhaps more importantly, most allied italian forces in Roman armies were latin and etruscan allies, who by the 3rd century looked just like the Romans.

    Played some Vanilla, got bored, decided to try a mod, tried XGM, played it for a while, tried to install a more realism focussed mod. First thing I heard of was RTR, but that would for some inexplicable reason not allow me to play any battle manually (CTD's). I then tried to find something else, found EB and well, I am currently on my third EB Seleukid campaign... (And you know what, haven't had a single EB related CTD, since succesfull installation...)
