    Ditto.

Havent played it before 0.8 though, primarily Ive been waiting for RTR 7.0 and AE 3.0. It shall be interesting to compare when they get out. As for now EB wins for me, but stability has been better with RTR AE, and to me thats not unimportant. Also AE has some very cool italian allies units. Actually I wonder why the Italian Allies arent more present in this mod with its high historical accuracy. They played an essential role in roman warfare until marian reforms.

Wait for 0.81 then. It's mainly about bug and CTD solving.

Ancient Empires has a special focus on Rome, i think thats why they´ve got so many additional units. EB tries (and succeeds imo) to treat each culture equally
and there´s the cap on how many unit models one can add (255 i think).

I've always prefered to play as a "barbarian" faction, and when I heard the name "Europa Barbarorum" on the .com, I was naturally drawn to it. Now EB has me in a stranglehold and won't let go. And I don't want it to.

Like Aymar said, they're not done. But perhaps more importantly, most allied italian forces in Roman armies were latin and etruscan allies, who by the 3rd century looked just like the Romans.

Played some Vanilla, got bored, decided to try a mod, tried XGM, played it for a while, tried to install a more realism focussed mod. First thing I heard of was RTR, but that would for some inexplicable reason not allow me to play any battle manually (CTD's). I then tried to find something else, found EB and well, I am currently on my third EB Seleukid campaign... (And you know what, haven't had a single EB related CTD, since succesfull installation...)

Google is always my friend. I stumbled across the word "mod" and found RTR... almost everyone has said RTR first (you guys suck at advertising, 20000 downloads is for noobs). Anyway I didn't really consider RTR realism so I searched harder and came across EB. Google searches rock.

That sounds a bit harsh...and historical accuracy isnt everbody´s cup of tea.

Ah, well Teleklos Archelaou explained it in another thread about the 2000 downloads. It's the beta bit of the mod's name that makes advertising rather difficult, and the numbers aren't on EB's side (the zero in front), according to him...

Though I kinda like it when a mod isn't being advertised all that much: IMO, it leaves modders more time to put their effort in modding, and perfecting their mod.

I heard about EB in the RTR forums, in one of those RTRvEB arguements. I thought, "A game about the barbarians, yuck." When I tired of RTR and resonses on the RTR forum got increasingly cranky, I thought I would check out this "barbarian mod" and was pleasantly suprised.

I must be an anomaly. I missed RTR completely. I found EB because about six months ago, the year ended, and my (then) girlfriend went to Australia for 6 weeks, so I had loads of time to fill over the summer holidays. I reinstalled RTW, but got bored after about 2 days, and went in search of mods, remembering NTW for MTW when I was playing that. I found EB through the powers of google, which led me to the EB website. Reading the faction descriptions sold it to me. And I've been hooked ever since. And speaking as someone who normally plays a game for a week or two, gets bored and never picks it up again, EB is something special. The fact Im still playing 6 months later, and cant see that ending any time soon demonstrates that. Unfortunately I struggle to muster the self control to stop and focus on my work when I really should be doing so. If I lose my job I know who to blame...

I started as an RTR fanatic, but I kept seeing debates about EB, and not being one to stick with the popular side, I went to see what it was all about. Now I patriotically defend EB on all of the debates on the RTR forum... Fun, Fun, Fun!

Considering it's coming from our PM, this was a very uplifting post.

Well, it's pretty accurate. But we have no one to blame but ourselves. And the stinking Irish.

Come to mention it though, when was the last time anyone saw one of those articles by the Helios or Eagle Standards or anything else that had a topic of EB? I remember former member Ace Cataphract doing one on EB for HeavenGames about a year and a half ago.

I started with MTW oh so long ago. I never got into Shogun but was hooked on MTW almost every waking hour I wasnt at school. I was more of a Roman fan and I almost cried when I saw the previews for Rome Total War. Then I played it for a couple days and found RTR. I refused to download EB because it was beta and I saw the list of bugs and no offense but they were horrendous compared to RTR. Also the greek voices and speeches for the family members and spies/diplomats annoyed me. So I religiously played RTR until I was over my cousins house and saw him playing EB. My jaw actually hit the ground. I went home downloaded it and have been hooked ever since. I didnt care about the CTD or the greek voices for Romans any more. This mod is pure ownage.
