I've heard some stuff about a 2h bug but I'm not certain if I know exactly what it is. Are Billmen affected and is there a list of units that are affected?

Billmen are affected, yes. Basically, all units that use the 2-handed axe animation have two problems, 1 major and 1 minor. The major problem is that they don't attack cavalry, at all. After the initial contact causes casualties, the only figure in the unit that fights is the unit leader model, so they lose the fight taking heavy casualties along the way. In one bridge battle where I was the Byzantines defending the crossing against the Mongols, I had a unit of Varangian Guard on the flank of the infantry holding the bridge, and a unit of Mongol Horse Archers (the unarmored ones) spilled out past the main line and into contact with the Varangians, so there was no charge, just a melee fight. The Varagians lost 76 men out of 90, and killed 0. That is not a typo. Zero, nada, zip, not one single kill. The minor problem is that even against infantry their attack animation is very slow, resulting in something like a stun lock in a lot of fights. Again, in one battle as Spain against Egypt, I had a unit of unhorsed knights against a unit of Tabardariyya in the streets of Jerusalem. The Tabars charged me, and the fight was in the middle of the city so no towers could fire into it. The knights lost 15 men left out of 90, while the Tabardariyya lost about 60 men before routing.
Age and treachery will defeat youth and skill every time.
Is there a list of what units use the affected animation?

Correction: all units which use the 2 handed axe animation are bugged. So Bill units, Dismounted English Knights, Dismounted Noble Knights, Dismounted Portugese Knights, Woodsmen, Croat Axemen, Varangian Guard, Religious Fanatics, Pilgrims, Tabaryyria(however you speel them), and a few more.

Does that include Voulgiers? also what about the 2-handed halberd units, many (Billmen/DEK aside), seem to be working?
Thanks for a bit of clarification lusted, I was asking aout the Voulgiers (or however you spell them), becuase they might make a sutible replacment animation that isn't OTT, IMO.

Voulgiers are not bugged. But the animation does not look good with the Billmen.
And whoever said the Aztecs were bugged as well is wrong, its only the 2 handed axe animatino that is bugged, not the 1 handed axe animation.

I wasn't thinking of them for Billmen actually, I was meaning the 2-handed axe units as some people have used the JHI animations and found them really OTT, but I doubt the Halbeard Militia ones would look right so I was wondering. Of course the Voulgiers animation might be too slow...Voulgiers are not bugged. But the animation does not look good with the Billmen.
Eagle warriors use the 2 handed animation, because they wield giant two handed weapons.Originally Posted by Lusted
