Gold DVD and no other mods before because there weren't any for Gold DVD..
Tried tweaking around it with the previous EB, but that just gave me an even more immediate CTD...

Sure the download file on the EB website isn't corrupted?

Ok, just in case try this link which is where I downloaded 0.8 from. This downloads it from a different host (in this case it is Mizus which is a co-partner of the Org).

It didn't work either, same CTD on the main menu...
So I'm pretty sure my pc is the problem...
I think I'll give up...
Well atleast it's only me, so other people can still enjoy this magnificent mod!
