Thread: Do I need a patch for M2:TW?

Default Do I need a patch for M2:TW?

    Hello everyone.

Yesterday I bought M2:TW. It installed fine on my computer and runs beautifully. But experience with other games has taught me that new games often need a patch.

I plan to play only Single Player. Would I need a patch if there is one, and if so then where do I download it from?

Does this forum have a discussion of the patch?

    Thanks.

Will it make playing M2:TW better? More fluid?

Or is there a chance it will cause my computer to crash?

Well there's always a *chance* any new patch will cause a crash, but in this case the risk is pretty negligible -- there's been very few problems reported thus far, at least in terms of stability. And by most (if not all) accounts, yes the patch is definitely an improvement on the vanilla game. I help moderate the Citadel (the forum for Medieval 2), and people's response to the patch there has generally been very positive.

It fixes a lot, but thers a lot more to be fixed. Personally I'm waiting for the next one. It's being released in February, right?

Yes, that is the plan, although there's no reason not to get the current patch in the meantime...

Unfortunately The Total War website wont let me enter because it says I dont have Flash. I do have it but just to please the site I started to download it again and Adobe said - no point you have already correctly installed it.

So I go to Google and find a place to download the update, It self extracts but then does nothing since my M2TW still says I only have version 1.0 . So this time I install it directly into the game folder. Still doesn`t work. It beats me hoew such clever programmers seem not to understand how to make life simple for the rest of us.

I don't like their website. It wants me to install stuff just to look at it. I have a new Dell XPS 410 fully equiped, but I am not going to download stuff just to look at a site.

does anyone know what the new patch is gonna fix? I hope it fixes the Billman bug, because watching a unit of 60 billman losing to a unit of mounted sargeants is just depressing.
