Thread: Unused stuff or not working stuff? The dillema

Default Unused stuff or not working stuff? The dillema

Looking at the Loc files I found references to stuff that apparently either doesn´t work, or was not used.

For instance, there´s an extra Byzantium glory goal which states "The golden age of Roman Culture lives on in Byzantium. You have to preserve blah blah blah and points are counted in 1150, and blah blah blah". This does not appear at any point in the game, that I´ve seen.

There is more, too: the game ought to report you of the AI personality being used (like in Shogun. Remember the "This daymo is blah blah blah and likes to blah blah blah"?) as well as , when holding the cursor over an enemy´s stats, describing their state, just like it does with yours.

So, am I the only one suffering of a disfunction, or did these not make it into the final version, for some reason?

There is alot of unused stuff in MTW. You must have seen the forester that I have used in the pocket mod? That is an example of unused building graphics. There are also numerous references to other resource buildings, and alot of unused text. The faction names text in names.txt also includes a section relating to clan districts or something like that. This relates to stuff such as the "King of Spain has sent an Emissary" which in the game is rendered as "The Spanish King". This text was intended to be unused, but has slipped through and is used when a rival faction offers you their princess's hand in marriage. You will then see at the bottom of the info pic something like "from king <name> of <clan district>". I frequently see "King John of Papal States", for the Sicilians, and e.g. "King Bela of Golden Khanate", for the Hungarians, or something to that effect. This is something I'd like to fix in a later release of PoM, I have already fixed the Sicilian forenames.
