Reminds me of Sword of the Stars. Probably why I kept getting the two mixed up.

Have to admit, it wasn't what I fully expected, lower rating then most reviews. I tried making friends with one of the AI's (we had several treaties) then they just declared war on me again, cutting all ties. In the end I ended up winning though. Pirates were interesting. I kept sending them to raid the AI places for example.

There was a battle of interest though. I sent pirates to an AI home world (last time I was there, they defeated my fleet). I ended up with a brand new even bigger and better fleet and ended up sending that to the Home-world.

When I got there, it was pirates versus the AI in a very big battle, which I ended up joining in, then the other AI (Green), also warped in, producing a massive 4 way combat space-battle. The original AI lost, and the 3 of us left were heavily battered. I managed to get a colony ship there to claim the world for myself, and quickly got working on producing defenses, etc. It was getting down to the 3 of us having like 3 ships, as my other big fleet came warping in and the defenses went up, resulting in my victory.

So I will rate it on the good side.

k stuck again on Demons Souls.

I've killed the Fools Idol (3-1 boss) twice now, but nothing is happening. ive read there should be a cutscene, but nope. if i leave the fog and come back in, she is alive again and i have to kill her again. now I'm at enough health to where 1 blue magic bolt thingy of hers would kill me, and I have no more grass. all my full moons, half moons, and crescent moons are gone. wtf? is this a glitch? did i do something wrong?

Picked up Valkyria Chronicles because of Xiahou's recommendation. Enjoying it so far. Also, got Demon's Souls but haven't started it yet.

Are you upgrading at the blacksmith? That's a large part of getting strong weapons. The special named weapons are all hard to get. Either you have to defeat tough enemies, or you have to play with world tendancy. Sometimes a combo of both. Or sometimes they are upgrades of normal weapons using boss souls.

Yah, right now I'm trying to get the Dozer Axe, so I have a Pickaxe upgraded to +3 or +4, which is actually pretty good. only thing is its really slow sometimes, which means I have to wear less leg armor so I can move better.

problem is I just looked it up and the only thing I get out of a pickaxe level 6 is a Meat Cleaver, which I can use a club level 0 to upgrade from. so I'll get a club and then meat cleaver too I guess.

so now, still wanting a Dozer Axe, I'm not sure what I should do. I'm in Soul Form, and I cant progress very far in 4-1 without luring enemies out 1 at a time. even if I could, I need 31 Hardstone and 9 large shards of hardstone to get it. help?

Right now Im playing through World in Conflict. The campaign is a blast, but overall not that difficult. Some parts are though. Also playing multiplayer with the Modern Warfare mod, which is absolutely AWESOME. SAM batteries FTW.

so some A-hole invaded my world today, and in a few seconds my health was down to less than 1/3. knowing I wouldnt win, I tried to use the Archstone to get out. no go.

so now, cornered and defenseless, this dude is about to kill me. so obvious choice? shut off the PS3.

    so 2 questions:

    1. if I die because of some douche like that, do i get stuck in soul form until i beat another boss?
    2. by turning it off, did I avoid death, or would the connection have let him kill me on his side and the servers believe me to be dead?

Yes to the first, and I think so but am not sure to the second.

I always play in offline mode, and would even if I didn't have a strong dislike for MP of any kind. The potential for other people to ruin your fun is way too large; blue phantoms and messages aren't much of a loss.

We need to get that demons souls topic back on page 1. I'll go give it a bump ...

    Currently played
    ArcaniA - Gothic 4 (demo)

    Rating - M (for Meh)

It is a fantasy game done bad. it is horrible voice acting (extra lulz if you enable subs, as they don't even match), it has the most uninspiring combat system I have ever come across, which boils down to "slash slash slash" enemy glows (for an attack) so you right click to roll, then you just go slash slash slash, again. Horrible leveling system. Completely underpowered and essentially useless magic system, especially as you have to go through 4 set animations to even switch to it, to let off a crappy spell. Overall, the game was woeful.

Met with a friend that I haven't seen for years, having come back to my hometown recently. He returned my copy of Star Fleet Command Orion Pirates, which I'd loaned him before I left, so I installed it and have been reminiscing. The ship to ship combat is still fun, despite the aged graphics.

I played it, too. Didn't mind the combat as much, got the impression it was just going easy on me for the first part of the game, which is all the demo has, but it was a bit easy, yes.
No problems with the magic but only used it when it was required, what made me more concerned was seeing a weapon that had some magic aura (read: fancy colourful effects around it that are made for little children), this stuff can totally put me off all by itself sometimes.
The dialogues though, are really bad, was the first thing I noticed, they tried to make them like the ones in previous Gothic games but failed horribly (same publisher, different developers, the old story, hardly ever works), the lip synching is nonexistant and everyone looks a bit weird, the girl your char wants to marry is absolutely not charming in any way either.
Your character looks a bit like some california beach surfer boy, at least his haircut does, at least the nameless hero didn't look like he was from a different world...
Despite all that it didn't put me off as much as I expected(probably because I got plate armour toward the end, I <3 plate armour), might buy it as a budget version...
Oh, and have you tried european vs american colours? Basically they think americans like much brighter, more childish colours and they're not afraid to admit it.

Xbox comes back sometime this week or next, not sure, but regardless I cannot wait to get the thing back. I need my street fighter fix!

In the meantime I've been playing the heck outta Civ 5 in my free time as well as tooling around in various shooters from my library. UT2k4 and UT classic among them, those games are so amazing, no matter how much time goes by they just don't age. Also been playing Star wars: Battlefront II, such a great mindless shooter.

I know you can; I don't want to, and don't want them there in the first place. For my tastes, having any of the MP aspects there there would spoil half my fun. It's not just the red phantoms; I don't want the blue ones either, or the messages, or the ghosts of other peoples' deaths, or the break in the lonely atmosphere.

IMO it's to the game's very great credit that it works equally well in SP and MP, and that each mode offers a different flavour of the experience. That can't be said of many.

The genius is that in multiplayer you feel all the more lonely, they aren't really 'there', sounds really weird but that's how it is.

Recently started a new (female, adept) Shepard for a full ME 1 & 2 play through. L4D2 is working again, so I'm getting back into that and looking forward to the DLC on the 5th.

been playing lots of L4D2 on Xbox with papa, but now hes back on the 10-week training cycle which means that will go away for about 10 weeks :(

just beat Demons Souls first playthrough, and it was not nearly as difficult as you guys made it sound. not counting the times that I unwittingly stepped over an unseen gap in the floor/walkway, or got pushed down the same by an enemy (****** MANEATER!!!!), I died 7 times, 2 were low level trying to beat Shrine of Storms, 4 were from Old King Allant. 1 was super early on in 1-1.

supposedly NG+ is supposed to be ALOT harder, which means that I'll probably lose my 200k souls in 1-1, though hopefully not. I got the evil ending, which I found out means I miss out on Soul Sucker til next playthrough >:O which suuuucks because CoD is comin out in a month.

but its a really fun game. one thing that really pissed me off though was that I got my Winged Spear to +4, and alot of the upgrades require +3, which meant I couldn't upgrade it to be like poisonous or magic. humph.

Yes N+ is harder Maneater is currently mobbing the floor with my armour, but how you managed to die only a few times is beyond me.

oh and never settle for +4, much better to upgrade quality

After a month of nothing but PC gaming, I've been tying up some console game loose ends thanks to moving to windows 7 and experiencing nothing but trouble to the point where using my PC feels like a massive chore. Ironic since I moved to windows 7 so I could go from 2GB of RAM to 6GB and play civ 5 on larger maps.

I've done all of Mass Effect 2's DLC. I finished Dead Rising 2: Case Zero. Currently I'm midway through the only Bioshock 2 DLC I will get, Minerva's Den, and expect to finish that later today. After that I'm not so sure; I might do the rest of the Dragon Age DLC, or I might go back to try and finish Broken Bond, a game which isn't nearly as much silly-fun(TM) as the title it is a sequel to. Or I might do something else entirely.

I only died in 1-1 once. I saw this sparkly hole in the ground which looked like it led into a room. I remembered what people said about following the fog. I walked into the gold sparkly cloud - and promptly fell to my death

lack of resources limited my upgrade :/

Maneater only killed me because he pushed me off the edge, bastard. he was pretty easy though, besides that I think I only got hit maybe tiwce, and I lost barely any health.
