Whoohoo! I've finished Dragon Quest VIII! 68:47 hours! Months of playing! Finished!
It's probably the JRPG I enjoyed the most since ... I don't remember when. I liked the way it played to its classic, almost cliched theme and plot, turning it into a joke. Yet when it counted it was still touching. The gameplay side of things was as good. The random battles were rarely too frequent and there were many means to cut down on them, as well as a flee command which actually worked (gasp!) and the ability to intimidate low level enemies into running away.
I saw both endings, but didn't do everything. I couldn't see the point in spending hours in the casino gambling to get the best equipment, or grinding to boost my characters another 20 levels to take on the completely pointless extra bosses. Much as I enjoyed the game, after 68 hours enough is quite enough.
Still working my way through FFVI.

Pretty long game, though it still doesn't beat my initial run through FFVIII of more than 100 hours (nearly 120 iirc). God I hated that game in the endOriginally Posted by frogbeastegg

Replaying Gears of War. It's funny, I can see the obvious qualities, but me and this game simply don't click. Soooooooooooooo pretty, but the gameplay, I dunno. I think Killzone for the psp does this type of gameplay much better.
Your playing a great game, m8.Originally Posted by Fragony

Anachronox is turning out to be something of a gem. I haven't made it very far yet, but am loving the stylised graphics, magnificent character and tight plot and script. It's almost like a combination of an adventure game with a more Japanese-style rpg thing, and it's excellent.

Lets see...
Still playin AOEII and Rome
Just beat Kingdom Hearts II (I was bored, so I played my sisters game)
Mercenaries, again, agin, again, and again (I think ive beat it over twenty times now...)
TosaInu shall never be forgotten.
I played it one or two years ago, it's basically a collection of fetch quests, but for some reason it does work (most of the time). Definetely a diamond in the rough.Originally Posted by Geoffrey S
