Well, after finishing both KotoR games, I decided to take on a JRPG- "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3". I had heard a ton of good press about the game and it sounded original enough to interest me. So far, it's been very linear but I'm still in the "tutorial" phase and I expect things to open up more later. Interesting characters, excellent soundtrack, and tons of anime cutscenes- I like what I've seen so far.

Here's a brief description of the game that doesn't give away too much:
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 is a strange and wonderful trip into an anime adventure. You're an orphaned high school student, transferred to Gekkoukan High School on Port Island. After arriving, he's attacked by creatures known as Shadows. The assault awakens his Persona, Orpheus, from the depths of his subconscious, enabling him to defeat the terrifying foes. He soon discovers that he shares this special ability with other students at his new school. From them, he learns of the Dark Hour, a hidden time that exists between one day and the next, swarming with Shadows. Under the supervision of school chairman Shuji Ikutsuki, he joins his new companions in confronting this threat to humanity. With your school as the primary battlefield, you'll be forced to juggle two lives: Student by day, defender by night. And your greatest challenges await you on the eve of each full moon.

The game gets an M rating, which it probably deserves. I know some people find the way you summon your Persona disturbing..
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
You use your "Evoker", which looks nearly identical to a handgun, point it at your head and pull the trigger. So yeah, you essentially have to blow your brains out to summon your Persona.. except your Evoker doesnt kill you- important distinction there.

Let's not forget the game's tendency to have half-nude women as bosses.

Haven't seen that yet. Something else to look forward to.

30 hours in and Im still loving Persona3. I'd say it's the best JRPG that I've played in years.

Here, for those who are interested, is the review that first piqued my interest in the game.

Oh, don't say that! It still isn't out here in Europe, and won't be until some unspecified point in 2008.

Did you play any of the other Shin Megami Tensai games? I've got Devil Summoner, Digital Devil Saga 1+2, and Nocturne. Not sure which is the best starting place.

Lots of things - EVE Online, STALKER, Bioshock, World in Conflict, Battlefield 2142.

    I have too many games.

Completed Brave Story in 23 hours, 12 minutes.

Next up will be Jeanne d'Arc, another of the little batch of import games I snapped up from that shop. Jeanne d'Arc the PSP strategy RPG, not the disappointing Dynasty Warriors PC clone with exactly the same name.

This morning, TES IV: Oblivion; playing as a werewolf with some mod, pretty fun.
Afternoon, HOI2: Doomsday; playing as Germany its 1940 and I've got all of Western Europe, now onto Russia.
