Dead Space finally found the courage
Lately been playing a lot of EB and Civ4. Madden '03 and GH2 on the PS2
I recently played through HL2 and Portal. I may play through Episodes 1 and 2 when I return to University given I'm not too busy with finals.
As for the Halo discussion, I thought Halo 2 campaign was really fun up to the point where you have to play with the Arbiter. I really liked the idea of fighting for the preservation of humanity, and I think I would have preferred it if that was what it was all about (Probably why I like GoW so much). Halo 1 is still my favorite of all of them, probably because I have the fondest memories playing it.
"You must know, then, that there are two methods of fight, the one by law, the other by force: the first method is that of men, the second of beasts; but as the first method is often insufficient, one must have recourse to the second. It is therefore necessary for a prince to know well how to use both the beast and the man.

The short answer: I'm liking it so far, but it's still early yet.

Playing Arcanum. Might do a short review when I'm done.
Some problems thus far:
1. You level up ridiculously fast, but get so few skill points to spend! There's like 80 different spells alone, and dozens of technological skills, never mind the 8 regular statistics and 16 regular skills (and health and fatigue). The level cap hack is definitely useful here.
2. Running around the cities takes a huge amount of time. I would say Tarant (London I guess) is about equivalent in size to the Imperial City in Oblivion, but it takes so long to go from place to place! Also, travelling between cities is ridiculous. It takes 3 weeks to get from Black Root (red) to Tarant (green); there's actually a railroad between them, but I haven't tried it yet because I'm not a rich bastard.
My party so far consists of Virgil (duh), the half-ogre from Shrouded Hills, and a sexy half-elf from Dernholm. My goal in the game is to become a suave and witty gunslinger.

do you mean how big the Imperial City was meant to be? it is extremely small when you compare it to Vivec or Mournhold in Morrowind, the capitals of Vvardenfell (the island you are on) and all of Morrowind, respectively. even comparing it to Anvil in Oblivion, it is still only a little larger.
anyway, you dont get a horse? that sucks.

Tarant isn't actually that big, but it FEELS big, because it takes hours to go through every house and store and all that. This is Tarant - there's an orange line on the birdge representing the player character.

I started Zelda: Phantom Hourglass as the new DS Zelda is out next week and all of the adverts had me craving some Zelda action. I'm up to my third visit to the temple ofrepetitivenessthe ocean king, and I have decided that it's a game of two halves.
One half is an amazing, joyful Zelda adventure with well implemented touch screen controls. It's beautiful for a DS game. Everything about it feels spot on, and it's damned near impossible to put down as there's always something else to tempt you onward.
The other is a painful slog through a dungeon with a time limit which stomps all over your instinct to explore and experiment. You're forced to visit it multiple times, and everything always resets. Insufficient short cuts are offered so you end up solving the same puzzles as last time to get the same keys to unlock the same doors before you can finally get on with the new part. The game does not save your progress inside this dungeon so if you quit you end up right back at the beginning and have to do it all over again. It's no coincidence that each time I have quit the game it's been inside this dreary dungeon.
Not sure I'm going to complete this one. As much as I love the rest, the temple ofdeja vuthe ocean king stomps all over my fun until it's dead.
Still working on assassin's creed II. I've slowed down a lot since I reached Venice; I don't find the environment to be as enjoyable to get around in.
