Default Question about gate, wall, tower % of damage

I must be missing something simple, but when assaulting a city or castle with siege engines (artillery) one should be able to move the cursor over the walls, towers, or gates that your engines are firing at and see the percentage of damage. When working you will see the percentage change as each shot hits--something to the effect of "wall--damage 54%"

The problem I am having is that this is not working all the time. Sometimes the information is there and sometimes it is not. Sometimes, I see it on one item such as a gate, but not on the wall. Sometime it will not be there and later appear during the same battle.

I am talking about parts of the fort that I have definitely hit and know that I have done damage to. What I see when it is not working is the simple description or label of the item--gate, tower, etc.

I find this information extremely useful when trying to balance conservation of artillery ammo versus damage when facing multiple level fortifications.

Anybody else notice this in their game?

    Cheers

It's related to how far away your units are from the target. The closer they are, the more info you get.

Well, the info has always seemed to be there when I have looked but....I haven't been looking with this in mind either. Fortunately I have 1 hr left at work and all night to wargame after so I can use this an excuse to exercise that option to wargame in the name of valuable research!

You need to approach closer to see stats like damage and morale, that's all. Getting closer will put you in range of their return fire, but that's what peasants were invented for anyway.

Thanks, all. Sometimes one cannot see the forrest for all of those damn trees.

I feel like the Beverly hillbillies who were constantly amazed that someone was always at the door of the mansion after those mysterious chimes would ring.
