I like zxiang's but only because the fix introduces something different to look at on the battlefield. Balance wise using the 2HS animation is probably more fair and easier to balance.

I give my axemen the JHI animation (Because it's the only one that looks right) and the polearm using Dismounted Knights I give the Halberd Militia animation, because it looks ok for them to poke the enemy.

First I installed zxiangs fix. Then I changed the Norse Axemen to JHI. That did it for me. I tend to mod by faction as I play them. The descr_unit file does not look at all like vanilla anymore! Though I hate it when I fight English Longbowmen with 1.5 more range from vanilla and 1.5 more attack!

I'm currently using Zxiang's myself, but had been using replaced soldier lines (Zweihander) for the bugged 2H units, and have seen some others as well. I have to say the demo animations look a lot more natural, and as far as I can tell there is little performance difference between the demo animations and the units linked to other animations in the EDU. I could be wrong on this, but haven't seen anything to suggest they should be a lot different in function.
I use whatever Lusted put in the Lands to Conquer mod.![]()
