Thumbs up First impression on EB and questions

So much detail its amazing and at times it feels like a total different game then the vanilla. I only played a couple turns as the Romans and a battle and noticed some units/boats have no desription and sometimes even wrong pictures like the citizen cavalry where it has the peasants one!
In battle i noticed that my cavalry were helding there spears above hand and i think thats wrong because imagine cavalry vs cavalry, would u place ur spear above or under hands? And they also seemed very greek to me but thats probably how the first Roman cavalry was since they were very influenced by the Greeks.

    Couple questions:
-Are there any mini mods for dl that comes with this one like some other major mods have?
-How is the gamebalacing/historical true reaction of factions if i use EB with BI.exe?

Peasants, or at least most of them, should be gone for .81. If you want a description, as some will say, write one and send it in! Otherwise, one will come, but I'm assuming other matters have priority. Concerning calvary, I believe there are lower hand animations, but it's either only for units who have the longer spears to do it with, or else you need to build up a charge for them to use them underhanded. In 1.5 you now need to stand away, click on the enemy and wait for the unit to switch from walk to run on its own to charge.

As far as mods go, check the unofficial mods forum, the only official one as far as I know is the gaesetae censor pack.

The official stance is that EB does not support BI, so if you have any errors, your on your own. Gamebalancing/faction re-action to me is something that is irrelevant of which exe you use, since both sound like terms used in modding the game. However, in BI the AI is MUCH more fun to play with. Naval invasions all over the place. Carthage took crete, and was being invaded by both the KH and Ptolemy, all AI controlled factions in one screenshot. Carthage will regularly invade Italy at Capua, and I've seen Pontus take Rhodes. All in all, very fun.

    Hi ForVictory,
What you have said about the cavalry is true, however if you send them into a battle with another unit then they always lower their spears and hold them underhand both on the charge and in the fight for maximum battle effect. Sadly, the peasant unit cards are the set default when a unit is not supplied with a card. Unfortunately the EB team have not really managed to make cards for all units yet, so, for some, their cards will be peasant icons.

As for your first question you could try visiting this forum. In there I am sure that you will find the mini-mod for you. As for your second question, BI does not balance the game play nor does it effect historical reactions. It just enables better AI, with more naval invasions, and allows for night battles, swimming and shield walls with a little bit of modding. Enjoy EB. Cheers

He means over hand as in they stab down with the spears and hold them like javelins, *ie Equites, Median Cavalry, German Light Cav, Pontic bodyguards*, since he is playing as rome and using equites. If you had a shorter spear that was the best way to use it, since you stabbed down at such an angle you could pierce armour a lot better in meele.
I shouldn't have to live in a world where all the good points are horrible ones.

Is he hurt? Everybody asks that. Nobody ever says, 'What a mess! I hope the doctor is not emotionally harmed by having to deal with it.'
