Default The Rise of the Gallic Confederation - PBM

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

Recently I noticed a few new threads in the Throne Room where members tried to start a new PBM.

    Apparently they all died silently.

UltraWar's opening post sounded very promising and I started wondering what to do to keep this one alive since apparently just opening a thread in the Throne Room isn't sufficient.

    So here I am, recruiting

I'd like to ask those of you who are really interested and have enough spare time (since these thingies can be pretty time consuming) to post in UltraWar's opening thread which you can find here:
    https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=77509

If you are really interested in playing a PBM, but you want to use M2TW instead of RTW, you can always PM me. If we don't find enough players for the RTW : The Rise of the Gallic Confederation PBM, at least I'll have a list of people who want to put time and effort in a PBM and I we can set up another one through PM (and without posting in the non-appropriate boards, sorry BKS and Mith ).

Thank you for your attention and hopefully my desperate begging recruiting will have some success

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
All of you who have enough time to click the "show" button, have enough time to participate in another PBM

I have no time to play, so I figure I'll make up for it by giving a testimonial:

PBMs (play-by-mail) are a great way to roleplay and meet fellow TW-players. Most of the previous ones have been where each player takes control of the game for a certain amount of turns, plays it, does a write-up, and moves on.

However, recently they have evolved into something (in my opinion) much more awesome.

In this game, each player gets to take control of a specific character. Most posts are in-character, so the player really gets to develop their personality and gets attached to their character. The interaction with all the other characters is also superb, and can make for some memorable moments, either hilarious or tense.

To give an example, the first PBM played like this recently finished with a Roman Civil War. In the final battle (moderated by a neutral umpire), the combatants included a man trying to rid the Senate of corruption, a 60-year old general who was trying to regain his glory after losing an Eagle years before, a little-known Senator who spent his time tasting wines and womanizing, and the first man mentioned's uncle.

That was the first one. Now that the format has been more refined, imagine what can be done with this one! This type of PBM is much more successful with more players, so go ahead and join! It's lots of fun! Who knows, your performance might even get you in the Org Hall of Fame.

TWCers, this is a great way to get to know the Orgahs, the people who call this forum home. The Throne Room and the PBMs that take place there will definitely hold you over until the new forum goes up, and it may even make you want to stay. So come on and join!

"Something can be done, by careful analysis, to sort out truth from propaganda and legend. But this is where the real difficulties begin, since each student inevitably selects, constitutes criteria, according to his own unconscious assumptions, social, ethical or political. Moral conditioning, in the widest sense, plays a far greater part in the matter than most people- especially the historians themselves-ever realize."
