Campaign game won't load

I saved a game as portugal last night with a modified kings purse. Now, when I try to load it, it goes to the loading screen...then the mouse changes to the hourglass symbol...loads really fast...and loops back to the main menu?!?!?!

Very simple. This happened to me twice before but I restarted my comp and it went away. Now its back for some reason. Stupid steam keeps autopatching it and I think its messing up my games. When I reinstalled my mods and started a new game as mongols...I saved that game and loaded it just fine. But the portugese game won't load.

Anyone else had this problem?

the only thing i can think of is that the game's engine is unable to parse the script files or the mods or whatever because they are corrupt or has bad syntax

Yep, that sounds like a corrupt save to me, though you may be able to save it.

I sincerely doubt that it's steam causing your problems - even if you've got m2tw through steam it won't allow you to play while patching is in progress for exactly that reason.

Well it must have been a bad save (from now on im saving twice every time) because the save before, on the same campaign one turn earlier worked just fine.

I was thinking it was a corrupt save file, thanks for the confirmation!
