I'm sorry Patriach, but the fact that the parading soldiers are wearing purple berets is just hilarious.

I know the hoplites used to love color back in the day but, you know,

Well, whether they're wearing purple berets or not, I bet they'd kick our asses anyway with their Greek killing firepower and leet combat skillz :P

Patriarch, are you going to be one of those tough sons o' *******? Don't become too much of a machine :P

Nothing, I am just answering Beirut's question why AntiochusIII was laughing at purple berets.

Great people. Armenia and Greece have a large amount of military diffusion (Training and tactics especially) and you might fidn yourself training or beign trained by some Armenians.
I was an NCO for a Greek once, good guy, good soldier too.

A short romp through this link will show the grand and royal history of the colour purple.

To focuss exclusively, and negatively, on what some may consider its more modern connotations is, shall we say, limited thinking.

I don't understand why the colour purple should be considered "gay" apart from in the original sense.

And Greek soldiers are so tough, they can dress like this:

    and no-one dares snigger.

    *Sniggers*

RTW, 167 BC: Rome expels Greek philosophers after the Lex Fannia law is passed. This bans the effete and nasty Greek practice of 'philosophy' in favour of more manly, properly Roman pursuits that don't involve quite so much thinking.

Patriarch of Constantinople, have you signed up yet? They sent you for basic training yet?

    Are you really an officer?
