    Exclamation Combat Video from Iraq

    Greetings All !

I just watched this on bbc.com. I know there are some others here who like to see what's going on on the ground and this is not too bad. Not much actual combat footage though. Makes you wonder if anyone returned fire. It's good anyway, close quarters, obscure environment.

Not easy. It's a squad moving on one of the hot streets, the sarge gets sniped, headshot -> KIA. It is not graphic.

WARNING: Do NOT watch this is you are sensitive to death. And do NOT come whining to me if you ignore this warning and watch it anyway.

If the link does'nt work it's on the front page of www.bbcnews.com

If anyone has any others of combat footage, post away, would be appreciated.

    Salute !

    Hey Sinan!

That's some nasty realistic stuff, but certainly viewable. Man, if a squad's Sarge gets shot...

I remember some sniper videos people had on Youtube about muslim sniper warriors who filmed their kills of enemy soldiers I think, and Iraqi snipers, etc., but you need to sign up to view (I dislike signing up). Here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...&search=Search

edit: view link and videos at own risk.

A word of caution: Let us all be careful this doesn't devolve into a snuff-flic-o-rama. Gruesome video, properly warned (so readers don't accidentally click-up something that would get them in trouble at work or home) can of course be cited to make a point.

Hi Kukri ! No it's not meant to be a gore video thread. Warnings are appropriate.

I love watching the videos of action on the ground. It brings us closer to the war. It's unprecedented, we can now watch stuff that nobody ever could watch. We can literally watch the war through the internet. I wish some guy would do a compete vidoe of an assualt, sadly this would mean he would'nt be doing much fighting. I'm really most interested in longer videos but I understand why they are rare. Hmm I just got an idea for my next job ! (JOKE!). Probably could make a lot of money though, good combat footage is rare, BBC and the likes would probably pay handsomely.

Hey Bijo ! I've seen some of the ones on youtube as well. I suspect the snipers, when they have the opportunity, may want to pick the leaders. More morale damage.

That's the point of snipers after all. That's why officers stopped wearing swords in WW1 - made them ridiculously obvious targets.

Horrible, horrible idea. People would relate it to war movies and out of their (perhaps) well intentioned ignorance, cause all kinds of stupidness.

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

While watching The HistoryChannel yesterday, I noted that they ran ads every commercial break, asking for authentic Iraq/Afghanistan soldier-made videos. This tells me that such recordings exist (or at least THC thinks so) and there's a market for them.

I expect we'll see more snippets of video from the soldier point-of-view, soon. They'll probably be more exciting AND more boring (just like real war) than the over-edited/produced stuff we find on the news channels.

Well we're all military/strategy enthusiasts, I assume. So I think there's no infaturation here, at least for me there isn't. For me, it's just about seeing what both sides see, and what happens in reality. For me personally, it's more of a live tactics and strategy demonstration. Iraq is now an attrition war, a morale war. I guess it's kind of sad as well, that we see this, but well that's the reality. I can't really argue with what is.

I think it is remarkable that a battle that is going on, on the ground, can be filmed and uploaded for everyone to see. My Grandfather, for example, had no such privilige. Actually he saw the Japs face to face instead, by his own choice of joining the British Army. Of course his whole generation could not see almost first hand what we can now see, unless they were unfortunate enough to be caught up in it. Even my Dad's generation could'nt.

I want to see a lot more from Iraq. Juba and his sniper teams posted their videos on the net, completely demolishing my view of the US military invincibility. I think videos like these teach us things we can learn, from a military perspective, and a personal one. Even with the best censorship effort the military has failed to keep the truth about the mess in Iraq being aired on youtube, ifilm etc.

I watched the movie Jarhead recently, it's pretty good. I recommend it. It's about a Marine sniper team in Desert Storm. It's not an award winner but I think it's good. I'm looking for more videos, movies etc. about Iraq.

This is history and we are witnessing it.

Yeh I saw the Juma videos a while back, I felt a bit weird after watching it tho - for each one of those snippets someones son/husband/dad wont be coming home.

equally as distburbing was the Feluja - hidden war doco where they showed evidence of the use of white phosforous.

And then there was the unarmed guys getting gunned down, the Abughrade (sp?) photos

The you have the imbedded news reports - one of the most dramatic was an australian reporter riding along with some marines? a car got too close to their PC so they opened up, killed a family or something the reported said - the guys were all high fiving and pumped up - mm

I am now just struck by how inanely stupid, pointless and sad the whole thing is

video games war is fun, because the little sprites dont have familys

real war - Im over it
