    Default Inquisitors

Do Inquisitors just appear, or do they need to travel to where you first see them?
Im just wondering because they seem to appear out of nowhere and kill my less pious citykeepers.
For instance... my last campaign as the English I was infested with them even before I had spread to the mainland. Now, if I had kept a fleet between Britain and the mainland would I have been able to keep them away? Or do they just appear in your lands?

They randomly appear for the papl states, but i remember reading somewhere that there could only be 1 inquisitor in a province at a time
"I do not know what I may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me." - Issac Newton

Isnt it related to papal standing?

Well, playing as the papal states, I noticed that they spawn randomly. But, if your lands have a pretty high rate of heresy, they will almost certainly appear seemingly out of nowhere. Of course, as the pope's personal army, your guys will not be targets for a bonfire. Also, with them, you can burn imans and Orthodox priests too, which I guess is a little... overboard.

They randomly appear and I have had 4 inquisitor in a province at a time. Now they do walk in and out of the province so it may be true only one can "pop" in. I have had them kill a Cardinal too. They hit on him about 4 times before he died. He had been daring to denounce a turn coat priest of 6 dots. Had failed twice before they came for him. I lost what should of been the next pope to them as he had all the dots and I had 11 total Cardinals at the time. SadCat

In one game as France I had 4 Inquisitors spread over 2 provinces. This was odd because there was almost no heresy and I had outstanding relations with the Pope. The key to getting them to leave seems to be a combination of maintaining good relations with the PS and depriving them of targets. If they're in a province, inquisitors will go after anybody. If you remove your generals, merchants, and priests from a province with an inquisitor, they'll eventually get bored and move on, hopefully to another faction.
