Unlocking factions .... is the natural game method broken ?

Completed short campaign with hre with a patched game and haven't messed around with any of the files. Stopped on gaining victory conditions and unlocked all factions fine.

I am still within my first within my first campaign (with the HRE) and when I go to the menu to start a new campaign, I can now choose between the default factions plus the factions that I have destroyed during my current campaign (Danes, Hungary, Scots).

My army is building up to conquer Rome so I will have completed this campaign shortly, and if I read this thread correctly that will also unlock all of the other factions.
I find that a bit of a shame to be honest, because it seems quite a challenge to destroy all factions one by one and that way get the full scope of the game by achievement (except papal states, mongols etc. that is). So I would prefer it to be the 'natural' way. People that donot feel they are up to this challenge could then resort to the easiest mod there is in this game.

Yep it is true when i tried to unlock the factions playing as england in a short campaigne they were not open and in many places i heard that finishing the game on a short campaigne was supposed to unlock them. I suppose that there is a bug involved
