Default Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars

Now, I recall this was my first real RTS I played back then in those days. C&C1 was just so GOOD then, and very addicting. Or how about Red Alert, hm? Man, when I think back

So now the the time has come for us to discuss C&C3 soon to be released - a couple of months. Are you going to get it? Of course I'd have to assume there're many TW players out here who'd probably don't like RTS, but hey... a guy can like both turn-based strategy and RTS, right?

If I'm not mistaken, the main difference made to the series is that you now control infantry as squads 'stead of individually. This seems a lot better to me, 'cause at some point I got weary of having to select them seperately (though of course you'd just draw a box). Squad control's been done in games, most notably Company of Heroes comes to my mind, but when I look at those C&C3 clips it just looks ugly how they move.

What I don't like about C&C nowadays (and especially since Generals) is the fact that EA totally owns the business, and let's just say that EA isn't the most worthy publisher around (but who is anyway in this day and age?). I suspect C&C3 will be merely a "copy" of the same old fast-paced gameplay with minor improvements that are really worthy, graphics and such put aside. But who knows.

But you know - going back to Generals - I was very skeptical about Generals when I first heard of it, but when I actually played it I was amazed. I liked the game a lot, and it was funny and corny in a way. Those generals who uttered funny words when you were to fight them in a "personal battle"

So maybe my skepticism will prove to be faulty when I play this one. Well, till then I'll remain skeptical anyway

I'll probably get this game, even though I'm totally not used to RTS anymore. Have had trouble with Company of Heroes, heh heh, even.

I'm looking forward to it. There is enough of a remenant of Westwood at EALA (the rest formed petroglyph) to make a good CnC game. What I'm looking forward too is the aliens. Who have a giganimous ship as their ultimate unit.

    Long live the NOD.

EDIT:I have C&C:Tiberian Sun.Good Game, but Renegade is better, but C&C3:TW is better.

I'm not really planning on that.. Even though I consider myself a "pro" in the previous versions (RA/Generals/etc..).. It just seems like a remake with better graphics, and Tiberium Sun is the game I never went LAN with..
"Cry, the beloved country, for the unborn child that is the inheritor of our fear. Let him not love the earth too deeply. Let him not laugh too gladly when the water runs through his fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire. Let him not be moved when the birds of his land are singing, nor give too much of his heart to a mountain or a valley. For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much."

    .

Yup, seems everyones copying Relic's games now. Dawn of War, their other big strategy game, also has squads.

I may buy this, I like RTS like dow/coh, but they don't have the boring stuff like chopping down trees and making farms. They have the ingenious point system where you gain resources from taking points on the map. Another feature which will surely be copied at some point.

Not true. CnC 3 is an evolution of BFME. Which used squads. I think that DoW and BFME came out around the same time, with BFME coming first by a month or two.

Long live Westwood! It's dead but I hope it's still alive :/

I rather lost taste with RTS lately. Age of Empires II, Red Alert, Warcraft 2 (and 3 for me), even Red Alert 2: those were the classics. Long has their corpses been buried beneath a thousand copycats that somehow lack the heart those games carry. They have their problems, their quirks, and utter murder-inviting annoyances. But damn if they weren't fun! It's inexplicable, really.

    Here's hoping C&C 3 will come with a soul.

I had (have?) all of the C&C RTS games. Having said that, I don't think I will get Tiberium Wars, simply because I don't need it. I have Medieval 2 Total War! What other games do I need?

Probably any future Total War games eh? You'll surely need those. lol

I can't wait for C&C myself. I've been a die-hard fan of Westwood, except for Generals that didn't resemble any of its predecessors. Hopefully C&C would stay true to the old Westwood ways. But then after seeing the trailers, It really looks as if the game is just a visually enhanced version of Generals with some physics thrown into it...
