    Exclamation Error reading scene file, HELP! Please!

    The game crashes while loading custom battle. But not always. I have no idea what can be the reason of this, with show_err I get two times this error (error reading scene file) and then game CTD.

    WTF can be the reason?? Help, please!

    Did you modify the game in any way? If you did, please outline what you did.

    Well I'm working on total conversion mod so even when I started not long ago the list is not so short.

    [I will write if when game is sometimes loaded succesfully the thing's working ok]

    ->new animations (working) and skeletones (working)
    ->new terrain textures (working)
    ->new menu and loading screens and quotes (working)
    ->lots of new units (working) with lots of new models and textures (all of them are working)
    ->new vegetation (working)
    ->new sky (working)
    ->new music and lots of sounds (working)
    ->new formations AI (working)
    ->new grass (working)
    ->new custom battlefields (working)

    So.. lol...All of these are working when the battle loads succesfully althought still very often during loading a custom battle I get this error! and then crash ;(

    I'm so tired of searching for the bug, so I decided to look for more professional help :/

    If a thing works once, it could crash later without real reason?? That's totally strange to me.

    Yes, it can do that because of factors such as not deleting map.rwm...

    Your problem is almost certainly related to vegetation (possibly sky but I have not modded that) - it can be tricky playing around with vegetation. Remember also that if you have a provincial map that the CB will still draw off the main map in the base folder.

    I experienced this error when modding vegetation when I forgot to include the .vege files. You might want to read through the Palm-forest mod thread and Duke John's vegetation article (linked in that thread).

    Make sure you know what you're doing with vegetation generation!

    Many thanks for responses, attention and Your time. ;)
    I thought so too, that it can be caused by vegetation. So I copied my backup and saw that default forests make no change, error still happens
    From time to time, like always.

    I had a problem that restoring all files to vanilla did not resolve when I first played with vegetation - though I cannot remember what I did about it. Too long ago.

    Code a bit at a time and go slowly, keep backups, be highly organized. It's painful but you'll end up with a very stable mod if you do it.
