    Default crashes crashes crashes

I get a crash most of the time when I..

    1)load a campaign game

    2)finish a battle.

sometimes it lets me through, and I play normally. But it crashes the game when I finish a battle.

I'll second that. I have fought the same battle twice now, and just as I had the ptolemies whipped: CTD, followed by really nasty language.

What is wrong? Is my machine unable to handle the graphics? Is the RAM memory overtaxed?

There are still remnants of the old reinforcement CTD. Were there three or more armies in the battles?

Always post your savegame when reporting a CTD. We cannot find the problem without knowing what conditions it happens in.

How about family members (for both sides)? I have had several post battle CTD, but when I load I make sure to kill all enemy family members, this usually stops it from reaccuring.

Crashes on a campaign load or crashes "most of the time...when you finish a battle" mean something is wrong with your build. That is not EB. I've never ever ever heard of a crash on campaign load up, and unless every battle you fight has reinforcement armies, and even then it clearly isn't happening for other people anywhere near as often as you're saying it does, having it happen like you are saying is just not something the mod itself does.

The frequent crashes that holybandit describes are probably due to a problem with his build. As TA notes, EB just doesn't have that many problems. But Sygrod's could very well be another appearance of the now-rare Reinforcement CTD, since it is characterized by:

    1) Multiple Armies
    2) CTD after the battle is finished
    3) The CTD is repeatable from one battle to the next.

All of which apply to your CTD. So to echo Bovi's suggestion, please post the save game so we can take a closer look at it. Thanks!

Sygrod, I've run through the battle six times now. Once with a 0.7.9 beta build, which crashed when I tried to reload the game after the battle. Not surprising, as it was with the wrong version. Discovering I had loaded the savegame in the wrong EB version, I then tried five times with the clean 0.8 build.

Twice I retreated from the battle, once I won a clear victory while the enemy general got away, once I won a clear victory and killed the enemy general, the last time I got delayed (meaning no) reinforcements and won a clear victory and killed the enemy general. No CTD at any point, sorry. My only suggestion is to do as others have said, reinstall to get a clean EB 0.8.

That would well and all, except that my install already was clean. I have had problems with vanilla RTW as well, looked for updates to video cards, etc. CTDs are fewer now, but I figured that I'd better report to you guys anyway.

It would seem that the CTD is so subtle and erratic that it is nearly impossible to track down. There are just too many aspects that can go wrong - anything from obscure bugs to hardware glitches to under powered PC...

I'll just soldier on, so to speak.

    /Sygrod
