    Angry Criminals on the BBC?

As a Grumpy Old Man, I occasionally have to give in to my "Daily Mail" moments and do some public spluttering.

I saw this advert for a courtroom reconstruction programme on the venerable BBC today.

Aside from the usual has-beens and barely remembered, and the suspicion that it is likely to be salacious rather than informative, what in all the nine Hells is Jeffrey Archer doing on the jury?

This person is a convicted criminal, a liar and a generally disreputable crook. Whilst he has a lot of experience in courts, it's been gained mainly from the perspective of the dock.

It's bad enough that the law apparently allows him to retain his seat in the Lords (therefore to influence real legislation - whereas had he been an elected MP, his conviction would have forced him out of the Commons - and he has not had the common decency to resign from the Upper House as honour would dictate regardless of law).

But the British taxpayer coughing up to line his wallet from the licence fee?

*wanders away muttering, shaking his stick*

Telling fibs and having a smelly wife.
There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

If I have read this correctly, he is not even ELIGIBLE to serve on a jury!
We all learn from experience. Unfortunately we don't all learn as much as we should.

Blimey, can you imaigne being charged and walking into court to find that lot of doll's heads as your jury. "No, no, I'll take 12 crack addicts from Dagenham, anything but them"

Unless you were charged with wife beating of course in which case I am sure Stan Collymore would see you were all right. Allegedly.
