I m playing rome total war barbarian invasion , my problem is sometimes my city is occupied by the romas without any siege or nothing is this a bug in the game or is there something i can do abou that thanks ahead for your answer

It could be the case that the city has revolted. Is your army outside the city on the turn that the romans appear? If so, it could be down to revolts, if this is so, then next time you conquer the city, i would recommend slaughtering the occupants on arrival, keeping a large garrison inthe city (even if its just peasents, the citizens are kept happy by numbers, not the quality of the troops), building of law and religion are also a nessecity in keping your subjects happy.

thanks guys for you quick reply , i really appreciate it , so i m playing the sassanids , the problem seems mainly to be in those cities : antioch , Philadelphia , Jerusalem, and trasus , now all of those cities are crwoded with armies and each have a clibinarri immortals as a commander . now it seems that i loose my cities when i click end turns , here what happened when i did it now , antioch was captured by romans there was a message that the city has revolted and that there is 1335 civilian killed and 0 soldier ,i had 808 soldiers in it also i had a fort which was close and which contained only 1 clibinarri immortals , also i had riots in other cities but mainly i have only lost antioch for now , also before i forget i m using the trainer cheat for the money and unlimited move don t know if this matter on the issue here . thanks again for your help

you need to keep you cities somewhat happy, or they will revolt and your army will be expelled. then any other army is free to attack your old city- they are attacking rebels and not you, after all!

so i would suggest reading around on the board a bit about happiness and such.

Fate and lottrbacchus are right. You can see if a city is on the verge of rioting/revolt if:

The best way to keep a city in order is:

• Reduce the tax rate to low - this increases public order by 30% although on the down side it reduces your tax income from this province.
• Send more troops to the city to stop further dissent. More troops threaten the city's inhabitants to stop rioting!
• Send a governor with higher influence levels. This can cause a 5% increase in public order per influence point.
• If time permits you can build building which have a positive effect on law, happiness and health.
• Exterminate large cities on occupation. This removes squalor and helps keep everybody happier.
• Destroy the other religious buildings in the provinces and build your faction's temples as fast as you can! This should reduce unrest caused by different religions. Don't worry yourself if the city riots while you get the temples running. All dissent should be quelled by the time you get to a high enough level of temple and everybody is converted.

You can tell if a city is going to revolt if:

• There is a blue face on the city on the strategy map. Now is the time to take preliminary action. Build buildings that have a positive effect on public order and draft in a few more troops to keep the order on yellow.
• There is a red face on the city on strategy map. Now is the time to take urgent action. Lower the tax rate and bring in some troops.
• There is a red face and next to it is a pitchfork surrounded by fire. In this case get in as many troops as possible into the province. Try to maintain order by lowering the tax rate as far as possible and drafting in as many troops as you can. If you can't hold it then just abandon it and attack it again later. Then you can exterminate the place.
