- You can't play defensively
- The skirmish maps are far too big (so you have to spend all your time recapping points that you can't hold effectively thanks to the pathetically small unit cap)
- The ai cheats (well, not really, but a human player can't micromanage 4 snipers at once; it can)
- The skirmish difficulty levels aren't 'right' (one's too easy, another too hard - same thing with dow)
- Battles just turn into an excercise in outproducing your enemy

Pretty old but my 0.2 is....

Well playing defensively in imo kinda sucks. Because what we're talknig about here is turtling and decorating your base with turrets/mines/barb wire/sandbags/machine gun posts etc. So you simply make it suicide to attack you. If this is a successful tactic then both players will do that and you'll get a stalemate. This actually happens on the "Vire River Valley" and "lyon" 2v2 maps because theres 3 bridges between the two sides, so everyone just fortifies the bridges. Its boring. CoH however offers something where turtling is suicide, it means you have to get out there to succeed.

About skirmish maps being too big, well I know this is gunna be me doing the old "you're complaning because you didn't know how to play properly na na na na na" but barb wire is free and goes up very quickly. It costs 50 munitions to get barb cutters, thats ALOT early game. Get out early with barb wire and your points will be safe until you have a larger force. Also by determining key buildings and rushing up a mg42 team in one can cut off your enemy from whole areas of the map.

AI cheats...well it does that in all strategy games.

Play online, its much more fun ;)

5...lol you've played strategy games before right? Whilst with cover, flanking, special abilities, etc, coh does have an extra strategical dimension. But you're not playing a TW game here mate, I just play it for a good ol' bit of fun and try not to worry about the fact its not the greatestgame for finding the greatest general...but what it is is fun
