There is a heavy slinger and a staff slinger unit both on the books. We need an animator for the staff slinger, and we aren't sure yet about the heavy slinger - whether we need something new for it or not. We don't have anyone who can do the staff animation yet though (since alin is pretty busy with RL stuff right now) - if anyone is interested, please contact us!!

Are you sure you need a new set of anims as if my memory serves the staff sling is used in wide strokes, which are done well with the vanilla 2Hd weapon skeleton.

Or do you just want to keep it to the downwards one (the one that IIRC they used most)

As for slingers, I dont imagine them being as lethal as people make out (for instance apparantly rhodian slingers were known to have sunk boats with thier slings) which I think is a load of cr*p.

Ive not been hit by a sling bullet (though I have been hit by a stone from a sling shot but theyre 2 different things) so I dont really know how destructive they are...

Considering that I have personally witnessed a shepherd from Trás-os-Montes [that's northern Portugal for anyone who doesn't know, which I assume is 99% of the people here], using a simple stone to completely pulverize a sheep skull mounted on a pole a few meters away, I'd say they do a decent amount of damage.

And accurate too, the guy could consistently place the shot in the vicinity of the target so that if it was the size of the person he'd always hit a part of it. Don't dismiss the weapon just because it's a simple thing.

Yes but I could pulverize a sheeps skull, or at least break it anyway with something simple like a rock or a little hammer.

However I would bet alot of money that I wouldnt be able to cause enough damage on a trireme/bireme to sink it uzing the same implement.

I know theyre lethal I just men that I have seen people claim outrageous achievements from them.

Anyway I tried getting a slinger to shoot with the 2 handed anim and it seems that unlike javelins you cant use a melee anim when the unit is going to shoot a rock, no Idea why...

I'd have to echo that stone bullets can be pretty devastating. Pick up a stone and slam it as hard as you can on your hand. It hurts. Now imagine that same stone hurtling through the air at far greater speed, slamming into your hand...or your skull. It isn't very neat either I'd imagine...an arrow is just going to make a nasty puncture wound, but a sling stone is going to shatter a hand or a skull like nobody's business. In the case of the hand, it'd prolly be ruined for good...

I myself find the Colombians to be delightfully pleasing to the eye. That is why I kidnapped one and after 2.5 years am still holding her ransom to her family. I hope this doesn't turn into a YouTube incident and F.B.I. agents raid my apartment, that would be crap.

lol... Did you know Argentines are probably the most purely Spanish blooded south americans? they are nearly identical to spaniards genetically, very littile mixing with indigenous tribes unlike the rest of SA and the caribbean. so liking argentine women is the same ting brah

and if youre visiting Spain, do go to Toledo, 3 types of architecture and the church is OLD... also visit Avila, whose medieval walls still stand to this day perfectly around the city and they have a medieval festival every october

Never mind a stone, the more professional slingers would be using a shaped lead shot.

mAIOR, it is unlikely this statement will go down well with the ladies from said country; 'Lol Spanish girls ar ok but I prefer some qualityArgentinian meat'...
