    Wink Carl - You Swine!



    Didn't pay enough attention to your Read me when I downloaded your latest problemfixer....

    Just about had a heart attack when I finally noticed why, for the first time all campaign, my scots pike militia had dared rout when fighting fuedal knights head on - their attack had dropped to 5!!!!

    Note to self: Read the Read Mes....


    However once I calmed down plaudits again. They're much more balanced now, and not the uberkilling machines that I had used to conquer the world with far too much ease.....

    -5 pooints is more than it should be, it was meant to be -2 point as with much more than that they became very difficult to hurt ANYTHING with. This really belonged in the Thread wherever it's got to.

    Do you find pikes too strong? I think their impossible to work with (playing vanilla M2TW BTW).
    At the end of the day politics is just trash compared to the Gospel.

    The bug with Pikes was they switch to swords as soon as anyone reaches them to engage. As they're pants with swords they get slaughtered.

    The Pike Fix was originally posted by someone else with a very amusing description, and then included by Carl in his all in one, along with a few mods to stats he has made since.

    Basically it removes the swords as secondary weapon meaning they keep using the Pikes, and keep getting all the bonuses of spear wall, long spear, vs cav etc. This actually makes them pretty awesome, although still slow and very vulnerable to missile and flank (basically a medieval phalanx unit).

    But combined with archers and some in reserve to guard the flanks it allows all or mostly inf armies to kick ass. Just watch out for a) mobile enemy and b) ranged enemy (you'll never catch them, even if you turn off spear wall and run).

    So, yes. Bad in Vanilla. Much better with problemfixer (see carl's sig again)

    ahh, misread your first post Moah. Actual attack should be 4 for Scots Pike Militia, 6 for Heavy Pike Militia.

    Also, try taking them off Guard Mode, I find they perform much better like that, I did a test with my V1.13 ProblemFixer and got an easy victory against Fuedal Knights, so i'm wondering how your losing with them TBH. Sounds real weird...

    (not that i disbelive you BTW, just sounds odd).

    They may have had a chevron of experience or 2...

    They were off guard mode and attacking.

    Don't worry I wasn't complaining - it was 2 units of Pike Militia holding off 4 or 5 enemy units and I think they'd already routed 1 or 2 of the enemy. They didn't do badly, just not uber-well-massively-beyond-their-stats like I was used to, that was all!

    The balance is fine, I was just enjoying the brief time of bugs and their fixes being massively in my favour!
