I love that pic, it reminds me when two my elite italics launched a volly at the Spatan hoplites flank. The hoplite just rqaised there sheild turned to face them and charged, they took about 2 casulties and the elite italics were not happy. But they charged them aswell, Italies best against the best greeks, awesome...

(Slightly off topic but the pict made me think about it)

War paint was totally old skool for the Gauls though, wasn't it ? And "caedann" sounds awfully Iberian. Would Fuzzy Wuzzy here represent some sort of Celtiberian inbred backwoods hick who never heard painting yourself was so last season or something similar ?

He looks just like the backwoods alpine inbred savage the gauls said they were. Sweet...

Perfect! Exactly as planned bar the belt which imho prefer was cord. Well done to Nate and Anthony / Ranika.

Yup, an alpine Gaul. Amongst other feats, the Caturiges were the tribe / nation that gave Hannibal grief crossing the alps. They were finally subdued by Rome at the end of EB's period.

I'll have the belt done as a cord when the unit is done, so, no concern. I realized I'd overlooked it in concepting a bit too late to worry about it, but the unit'll be corrected.

For others; Caturiges were out of date, mind you. They were relatively savage people in Gaul. Others Gauls were much cleaner and more organized. Caturiges were like this oasis of pre-Celtic inhabitants of the region, mixed with earlier Celts who'd entered it. They're meant to look out of date and savage by comparison. They were vicious tough, though, and it'll show, I hope, when we get them done.

Mountain tribes, huh ? That definitely explains it - them highlands sometimes time-capsuled some seriously old and peculiar stuff thanks to sheer relative isolation.
