Perfect! Exactly as planned bar the belt which imho prefer was cord. Well done to Nate and Anthony / Ranika.

Yup, an alpine Gaul. Amongst other feats, the Caturiges were the tribe / nation that gave Hannibal grief crossing the alps. They were finally subdued by Rome at the end of EB's period.

I'll have the belt done as a cord when the unit is done, so, no concern. I realized I'd overlooked it in concepting a bit too late to worry about it, but the unit'll be corrected.

For others; Caturiges were out of date, mind you. They were relatively savage people in Gaul. Others Gauls were much cleaner and more organized. Caturiges were like this oasis of pre-Celtic inhabitants of the region, mixed with earlier Celts who'd entered it. They're meant to look out of date and savage by comparison. They were vicious tough, though, and it'll show, I hope, when we get them done.

Mountain tribes, huh ? That definitely explains it - them highlands sometimes time-capsuled some seriously old and peculiar stuff thanks to sheer relative isolation.

Does this mean that the Gauls will finally have a skirmisher unit?

Greek and Iberian skirmishers I don't really use, (as Aedui/Arverni),except for garrison units, but when I invade the Casse I usually enjoy fielding a couple Balroae units with my armies.

I would assume that these guys are only avaliable in the alpine regions and not widely available?

Well from the way you all are talking it sounds like this tribe of Celts won't even have to fight. They'll just ward everybody off with their smell.

Weirdly enough, the paint on his face looks a little like the Khornate emblem in Warhammer fluff. Khorne is the chaos god of blood, battle and berserk rage, which in this instance seems quite appropriate.

Oh yeah! Awesome image! Well done Caratacos!

I like this gallery. You are very talented. All pictures are vey good.
    but I would like to...

Could You make Greek, Seleucid, Carthaginian or Macedonian Units?
Usually You create barbarian and eatern units.

    I would like to see:

    Sacred Band Infantry,
    Liby-poeni Infantry,
    Carthaginian General,
    Ptolemaic hetairoi,
    SELEUCID, MACEDONIAN, OR PTOLEMAIC OFFICER,
    Macedonian Phalangite (phyrgian style helmet),
    Cretan archer,
    Spartan Hoplite,
    Indo-Greek Hoplite (beards).

    Please...

Caratacos does not actually do commissions. These works of art are used in the development process of units, which leave him very busy.

We have most greek and roman units done, that's why there isn't a need for him to do **unit development art** for those types of units.

KLA, there is already a Spartan Hoplite (a half picture made for sigs) and an Indo-Greek Hoplite (though without a beard) earlier in this thread.

Post 2 is updated above so that it will contain the fan versions of the released Caratacos signature banners. Here is also (this is not one big image, but a lot of little ones):

He's been really busy with other things lately, so we haven't had new unit development art, but I think he's close to being able to do some more of them now.

Yup, it'd be great to see some Makedonian work and Ptolemaic ones! Maybe a Hetairos for Makedonia and an Argyraspidai for Seleukeia. That would be -cool-.

Alright ladies, time to turn the calendar to May for the next month on the "Men of EB" commemorative wall calendar. ( Sorry Caratacos - couldn't resist! ) Here is the new Celtiberian Heavy Infantry unit concept art from none other than Mr. C. himself:

Some of the proportions strike me as being a little off, though. On the other hand the detailing is excellent, and it certainly has the "concept" part down. Dig the vaguely sneering expression, too.

Looking nice. Face reminds me of Captain Carrot. Really dig the clear Celtiberian look, a great mix of cultures.

Only thing I'm not so certain about is the scabbard, it looks a bit too luxurious to me.

I was under the impression that the Loricati Scutarii were a primarily Iberian troop unit.

Hi, I'm making a drawing for my website (school project), inspired by caratacos, this is what I have done so far:

    https://img385.imageshack.us/img385/...arius14ga7.png

Can anyone tell me how to paint the chainmail?

It's a Triarius btw, half EB half RTR. I'm doing all the painting in Photoshop CS2.

Nah, he just hasn't had any new units to design yet for Ptolemies, Epeiros, Maks, or Seleukids. So that's the only reason we don't have any for those. We wouldn't have had one for Romans or KH either if he hadn't been wanting to do some sketches of a legionaire and a spartan.

We did have a few new greek units, but spirit of rob is so used to working on the factions that he has churned out the units before Nate had gotten requests to do pieces depicting those units. Nate's also working on some things that we will keep secret for now, but that is why we don't have a stream of new art for the public boards lately like it was before.

That was discoskull. He did four pieces for us and then sort of vanished. But his work did catch the eye of caratacos, who contacted us about doing more after he had seen the work of discoskull. I'm the one who puts together the sig banners mostly, and I want to keep them consistent, so I'm only using caratacos' art for these new units ones.
