Just finnished the grand campaign and I must say that I am very disapointed by the ending movie......I mean the ending movies are getting worse and worse with every TW.

I know thats not very big part of the game, the animations I mean, but still, come on.

I still remember those great Shogun endings......

A game ending, come on guys, you can come up with something better to moan about than that!

No, no, no this isnt a moan really. I finished the game and I am one of those few that are founding the game a goo waste of time despite all thos bugs.

I really enyojed the game and cant wait for the next patch so that i can start a new campaign.

I just wanted to state that the ending scenes were much better in previous TW series.

When I saw the ending myself back then, I was really shocked that it was so bad. Truly anti-climactic.

I would be cool if they'd do something like that Civ4 movie that shows the evolution of your empire.

And give you a bunch of stats.

But, of course, game play is much more important.

Total War endings are generally bad if you ask me, but on the contrary I think they're getting better, albeit quite slowly.

MTW had no ending. It just gave you a drawing saying 'you conquered the world, now go play a new game'.

RTW was a just one silly movie with music which kept looping.

At least M2TW gives SLIGHTLY different endings for each faction, and each one has its own narrative.

But yeah, after playing for HOURS on a campaign one would at least expect a 3-5 minute ending.

I agree, after a long campaign it would be nice just to have a few simple statistics and graphs like number of men killed, number of battles, biggest city, nations conquored/destroyed and maybe a small timeline of significant events

a short relive of the campaign, and being able to look up a game on a ladder and see a summary of achievements etc - just to remember.

definitely a nice to have, fixing gameplay issue has priority

To take thsi slightly off topic, wouldn't it be great to have a stats screen where it kept track of how many men you'd killed/lost against each faction?

It could then be autogenarated into graphs at the end.

I do like their little spy/assassin movies. A guy using a bush to get inside the town? Now thats Benny Hill style silliness. And the assassin with the snake? When the snake decides he isnt gonna attack? Or how about when the guy walks into the room and hits the assassin with the door? Now thats some funny stuff. I think I'd rather see lots more of those things than one big dramatic movie at the end but thats just me. ::

I remember the Shogun ending, it really was a lot more interesting than any they've had since then. The statue of yourself in Tokyo was a nice little surprise too.

I miss the attention they used to give to the movies. I have a soft spot for immersive stuff like that.

I agree about the ending to Shogun. It was a really well made multimedia affair combining period illustrations, CGA's, in-game shots, and authentinc sounding music accompanied with a narrated historical epilogue to your conquest of Japan. This all culminated in the ending CGA of a modern Japanese street scene with the particular statue of the Shogun of which ever clan you had just won with. Then it segued into the ending credits.

I never failed to watch it all the way through no matter how many times I played the game and I am hard pressed to think of an ending to any game I have played that was as well done.

The only other game ending that I can remember as being that memorable was maybe the humorous ending pub party and song for Armed & Dangerous.

    Cheers

Yes that would be excellent. # of men lost and killed, cities taken, distance traveled, units trained, units destroyed units lost etc.

I agree with the stats. concept, I would also like to see some sort of calculated score at the end of the game. Like in the Civ series, it would be good to have a value for your efforts. With increased scores based on certain criteria of gameplay or skill in battle etc.....

What'd also be great is a sort of timeline overview of your faction. I've been playing EUIII alot recently and the timeline at the end of a game, organised chronologically by the reigns of monarchs, is definitely a feature that would have been great, especially if it could display details of major battles as well.

Been some time since I played, but there's probably a 'Show this type of movie' option in-game. You could also open the .cfg file in the main folder I think, and look for a line that resembles this and change the value to 1.

Hopefully in the expansion or something they will provide better movies?

The only end movie that I have seen is the spanish short campaign one, wich I must say was quite good I really liked it, it certainly was better than any of the RTW movies, I don't know if the short/long campaigns endings are diferent though

Next time you got a report that a spy has completed mission or some such, on that report page there's the check box to show the movie again.

I am pretty sure they use the same movie for both the short and the long campaign and it is also the same movie for all factions with only the banners changed to match.

It's OK, but not that great after one has seen it 3 or 4 times plus seeing it played in a small window like the assassin movies take a bit of the grandeur away. Also, if one is playing the short campaign, the movie is a bit anachronistic in that it includes celabratory fireworks before gunpowder is actually introduced to Europe.

Like I said it is OK, but pales in comparison to the ending sequence from Shogun.

    Cheers
