Question CTD as Romans when completing a turn and besieging a city

I am playing a roman campaign in V8.1a, and hotfix, and it came along nicely.

After pushing Carthage out of Spain, the Med isles and destroying tha Lusitani thus taking all of spain myself I have destroyed the Aedui and began fighting the Averni. Here I encountered this strange CTD problem, in 220 BC:

I besiege a city and wait until they starve. I do not attack. I get the city the next turn, the usual three options come up, I choose one and - CTD.
If i reload autosafe and take the same city one turn before they run out of food by assault, I can play on like normal and have no problem.
Once I reloaded and did not turn on the background script, and also the game went on even though I waited for the city to starve and did not attack.

    Ideas, anyone?
NB this did not happen earlier in the same campaign even though I almost always starve them out. Also it did not happen with V8.0

BTW: The same thing happened in another mod I played before (terra expugnandae).

If I am reading correct, there is only one siege in which this has happened. As I am pretty sure I remember having this once or twice in RTW vanilla, I think its a RTW bug.

Yep, I've had a couple of those with Vanilla too. Never experienced them with EB though.

I have had it too but never the same siege and after 3-4 loads it works fine....I've never worried about it since it hasn't ruined any campaign and I've yet to encounter it in my 0.81a Romani, which is at 174 BC...I could try and dig up an old save with one but I dunno if it'll do any good.

Well that is somehow reassuring. It has not happened again since so I have turned the background script back on.

I dont recall this occuring in vanilla and I dont recall it in EB V0.80

Maybe it is due to what happens in one particular city right after a siege. Maybe it even depends on the current situation (like unrest level, buildings etc.) of the city. I noticed (just once though) that I won a sally forth battle as besieger and then I did not get the city because it rebelled against its owner and I was suddenly besieging a rebell city (it even had full storage of 7 turns).

Heh I've had that lil bit happen to me before in vanilla, but only when its the last city and the family members die in the sally attempt. However, in 0.81 I had two separate occasions of a ctd due to sieging (both as Romani) and since it has not happened again yet (or the even more annoying "take the town that it then considers you to have already owned for a turn thus revolt and usually ctd right after") I just presume the hotfix fixed it.

werl it happened again, when i turned my attention to the makedons and took athens and corint... i reloaded the autosave and assaulted them in the last turn which solved the problem as before. both cities give you a message and the general a special trait, maybe that is one possible reason.
