"BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer (P2P) file distribution protocol. The protocol was originally designed and created by programmer Bram Cohen, and is now maintained by BitTorrent, Inc." -en.wikipedia.org
What you need to get started:
a BITTORRENT CLIENT -an application that will let you connect to the bittorrent "network"
I use Azureus, a user-friendly yet powerful client found here
next, CONFIGURE your firewall and/or router to allow your bittorrent client access
-for firewalls it usually involves just allowing the application when it first accesses the internet, I won't get in depth here as everyone knows how to read a manual
-and for your router it means opening whatever ports your Bittorrent client uses, default TCP 6881-6889 out, you've got your manual and the internet at your disposal
After you've downloaded the client and allowed it access, just click on any torrent link and select open (open with [your bittorrent client]) on the download dialog.
I'm sure most of this is easily found on the internet, and in more eloquent form, but I saw an EB fan or two a bit confused about this.
