Hey I believe I installed you're MOD to the letter, however I am having CTD's everytime I start a campaign (yes i have units on default).
I wondered if that was because of the fact that I have gold version.

You need a clean MTW:VI install patched to 2.01. If you have gold, make sure you have the correct patch (http://www.totalwar.com/index.html?p...l&nav=/en/7/2/) installed (it's the first topic).

That would be your graphics driver's fault. Put all anisotropic settings on off (not application controlled) and put the antialiasing setting on 4x. (This would be in your nvidia control panel 3D settings.)
