Weird question, probably, but: is it possible to turn a German installation of M2TW into an English one?
If so, what do I need to do? ;)

Oh, wouldn't it be nice? I myself have the French Collector Edition - and it's my first TW game in other language than English... kinda bizzare, got to admit.![]()
Some features aren't even translated..., merchants, for instance, trade in English: "...ce marchand vend du... silk", or "il vend du... iron" etc.
And in my French version, Aztecs address me with "sahib" and wish me "qu'Allah vous protege, sahib". Wow, Muslim Aztecs?![]()
I couldn't find any means to change the in-game language...![]()
"Whose motorcycle is this?", "It's a chopper, baby.", "Whose chopper is this?", "Zed's.", "Who's Zed?", "Zed's dead baby. Zed's dead." - Butch and Fabienne ride off into the sunset in Pulp Fiction.
Exactly... since I installed the Lands to Conquer mod, some retinues and such are in English...Plus the language should be some kind of cfg files anyway.
Well, there's still hoping. I've wrote to Sega's customer support but I don't really expect an answer.
For many games, if you can replace the language files with that of a another language file, you can change the language. After all, it just has to display some unicode strings.

Then I'd need the language files... ;-)
I think this is kinda silly (not being able to easily change languages). I mean movies on DVD's come with all kind of languages and subtitles, and you just have to pick one.
SEGA manufactures TW games in several languages anyway, so why make changing languages possible only if you buy another game?![]()

Same in the german version, guess the game gets the names for the ressources right out of some ressources file, IIRC RTW had some text files with the translated texts and words.Originally Posted by Vlad Tzepes
But there is a localized.pack file in the packs-folder, maybe putting an english file there would change it, if the english version doesn't even have that file, simply renaming it might do the trick.
edit: renaming it didn't do anything for me.

Sooo... nobody has an idea?
Still got no answer from Sega on that, btw.
Replacing the text files should be easy, in the mod forum there´s a download link with the txt files.
Replacing the speech will be harder, and that´s precisely the reason why CA doesn´t release all languages in every localized version: the whole thing would get way too big.
I was faced with a similar situation and thought about trying to change the language.
But then I realized that now I can justify staying up until 4am playing because I'm really just practicing my German.![]()
Just think of all the great vocabulary you can learn - haven't you always wanted to know that Trechebut is "Tribok" in German?
Seriously though, sorry I can't help you out.
Thanks, I'll look for the link. I don't think that the speech would be that big a problem. Just pack it on a dvd... ;)Originally Posted by Ciaran
