(269 BC - 263 BC) Rage of the Aphistamenoi
Not an entire season had passed after Zalmodegikos' death when the kingdom was immediately faced with it's first major crisis. A Dacian tribe from the north fell about our kingdom to challenge Dizo's right to rule. We rushed north to meet them before they could reach Kallatis.
It was a close fought thing. Although outnumbered,We managed to pin their flank with our lone spear band and harried their other flank with Sarmatian mercenaries. That gave us just enough time to get our heavy horse behind them. Many men were lost but they lost many more.
Dizo believes the Tribali put these rebels up to it. We have set into motion plans for an improved barracks in the capital. An attack to the south will not be possible without a more professional army. We will bring the fight to them and make them submit to our rule. The entire plain between the mountains to the north and south will be ours. Our trade routes will flourish and we can begin to think about a standing army.
