Thread: Can Inquisitors get me if I'm excommunicated?
Lorenzo_H 09:04 02-16-2007
I recently attacked the good ole Papal States and it seems that there are still annoying Inquisitors roaming around my lands and all my assassins have failed. Are they still going to burn my Generals, because, after all the whole nation are heretics according to his most Infallible Catholic Excellency.

Yes... in my current campaign I was ex-com'd early in the game and it wasn't until then that the Pope sent inquisitors after me (and attempted to denounce my King)...

Maybe they target your king in particular, knowing that if he is successfully denounced, you'll be brought back into the light! After all, if your king gets whacked, it's automatic reconciliation, right? It really does make some sense that the pope would send his hitmen after the leader of a faction that won't fall into line. If the game really does that, I give props for the pope AI, as that's a really sneaky tactic, though an awesome one.

If I were you, diablodelmar, I'd rush my king straight over there as a peace offering to the pope!

...and then of course come back here and let us all know if he takes the bait, lol.

Ahhh its ok now I just took all of his cities in Italy, Sardinia and Crete (Cyprus? never know which is which!). At the same time, my King Died and so did the Pope, and for the first time, amazingly, one of my Cardinals got elected so I just went from being excommunicated and the scorn of the catholic world, to a popular, powerful nation with all but two crosses on the Pope-o-meter (why do I resort to cheesy sayings once again?).
